I got by the 5-0 3am one morning under this regulation:
Regulation 107(2)(a). This states that no person shall cause or permit to be on any road any motor vehicle which is not attended by a person duly licensed to drive it unless the engine is stopped and the parking brake is effectively set. Exemptions to the requirements of this Regulation as to the stopping of the engine include a fire brigade vehicle, the engine of which is being used for any fire brigade purpose.2014 D4 XS

I would expect that a drive would not be a "road" if it was privately owned (even if owned by someone other than you).
It might turn upon whether or not there was a right of public access?

Almost certainly any drive that allowed access to others (eg postie, gasman, etc ) would be deemed to be a road within the definition of the relevant Act, I think.2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

Runlock
Hi All
Runlock is perfectly fine for vehicles used by the emergency services to run equipment that is necessary for their and the publics safety at an incident as previously said however it would invalidate your warranty on your vehicle as you have to cut into ignition wires it also overrides the anti theft system so would invalidate the insurance given to the public this of course does not apply to the emergency services as they have special insurances to cover this.
If a scrote did try to nick it then as soon as they release the handbrake the vehicle cuts out I personally think their a great idea, but in many areas of the UK you would now be issued with a fine for leaving a vehicle running unattended and for causing unnessesary pollution and recieve another fine the good old UK theres not another country like it all out to their entire population with stupid rules and regulations
cheers

Does this system work stand alone then? Or does it need plugging in to the canbus? Ive spoken to a couple of people who supply runlocks but state that they wont work on d3 because of canbus

Runlock is your answer its fitted to all our HATO vehicles
Its most defiantly Disco friendly.
press the button take the key out and engine runs.
The "Run Lock" unit enables a driver to remove the keys from the ignition of a vehicle while the engine continues to run. This enables adequate power, without battery drain, to be supplied to Blues and other scene lights at a major incident. The vehicle can then be driven off after re-inserting the keys, if the keys are not re-inserted the engine will cut out on removal of the parking brake or activation of the footbrake.
This allows vehicles to be left running and the battery charging, without the worry of an unauthorised person driving off in the vehicle.
The unit has three separate outputs as required on most modern vehicles.
Three separate outputs (1x 15A & 2x 6A).
Works on most modern vehicles
