Can't find any tyres - advice please
I've been trying to find some new tyres for my discovery 3 without any luck.
It has the standard fitment of 255/60R18 and I would like a tyre with good on road / off road capability. Have contacted lots of tyre dealers who all mention the General Grabber AT2 then add "but we havn't got any.." .
Can anyone recommend another similair tyre and ideally a dealer who actually has them in stock and could fit them somewhere around the north east of england, I dont mind travelling a little bit to get them.
You could also look at the Pirelli ATR in 18". Some people say they are the mutts dangly bits. I have AT2s and pleased with them apart from their vulnerability to sidewall damage. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Just had great support from AJS. Pricing very competitive. Due to urgency sourced my Vredesteins locally but managed to negotiate a good price after my chat with AJS. All fingers now crossed that they are as good as people suggest.

Thanks for all the replies so far.
AJS are a bit too far from me as need fitting service and Camskill don't have any stock. Ideally need to find a local ish* dealer/fitter who actually has stock and would prefer the AT2's due to 50/50 road/off road use.

Any of the local independant garage, workshops with a tyre repair service should fit new tyre for you at a reasonable price. I had to get a replacement tyre, got it delivered to the door from AJS4x4, took it to local private garage and cost £10 to swap tyres and balance.ATB

Sorry to jump in on the thread but i'm having the same problems trying to get hold of some AT2s. No one seems to have any in stock. All due in at end of January.
Tried AJS but he has only his own stock in so can't courier them out.
Tried Tyremen In Hull but order only.
Tried Holderness Tyres this morning but non in stock.
Does anyone know of anywhere to purchase these tyres who have them in stock. Can get these fitted locally.
All help will be gratefully received.

If anyone is interested Tyremen in Hull do have the Vredstein Wintrac's in stock 255/60/18 at a good price.

Well after another day of ringing tyre dealers I've still not found any AT2's. Had a few people suggest changing to 19" wheels and putting MTR tyres on, then the usual statement "...but we havnt got any of them either.." !!
Realy didn't think it would be so difficult to find more than road tyres for such a popular 4x4..was a 5 minute job for the shogun and our other 4x4.
Anyone have a secret supply of tyres and/or wheels somewhere???
Just took delivery of a set of 19" Pirelli ATR's through one of . Nothing like as brutal looking as MTR's but they certainly look like they will do the business on and off road. Apparently, they are rated as 70%/30% On/Off road. Sounds perfect for me. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
