"Leveling" the vehicle

I'll soon be adding a rooftop tent to my DIII, Does anyone know of a way to have the vehicle level itself when parked on an unlevel surface? Or do I have to manuever around until it's level enough to sleep in?

until now I did not have any problems, just tried to park as level as possible.
As what other told here, mine is not leveling itself.

What I did found was thsi procedure:

Leave car to normal level
Lock car
Wait 15 min
open car
Contact to step 2
Lower car

Wen it lowers, it levels.
That's the only way that works for me

As I understand it, the 'brain' wakes every few hours and adjusts the self-leveling suspension automatically. It will only adjust to a relative level though, so find as flat a piece of ground as possible first.

And find a level piece of ground for the tent ...yea, that's better. I was hoping not to have to find a level piece of ground at all.

Always drop the D3 to access height.

If you need to raise a corner then find a suitable rock place it near the wheel you need to raise and drive up onto it.

I always have the fold out part of the roof top tent (assuming yours folds out) slightly tilted to cater for any slight gradient in a campsite.

You could always buy a couple of the levelling ramps us caravanners use! There are some out there that will take the weight of the Disco.
Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills Smile

I like to park with the front slightly higher than the rear so that my head is a bit higher when I'm sleeping.

You could always weld a couple of swing out arms to the sides of the car, like big cranes use! Wink

No worries, I'm just jabbing you back! I've not been in a rooftent yet but I'm attracted to the setup and takedown. It's such a pain to setup poles and stakes and everything...
