Thanks to Slimer I fitted my D4 reversing camera yesterday, and tested this morning quickly with my 10" screen. Quality seems very good, and the yellow lines are a bonus I wasn't expecting

Taking the wrong colour plastic cover off and putting my blue one on was a doddle
A bit of scientific testing to see if the lines are in the right place...
I reversed up to the garage doors with wheels straight.
The lines tracked on the same position on the garage doors all the way... So it seems to be spot on.

Yes, the screen has the input and diagnostic tests for it but even if enabled in the CCF there doesn't seem to be a way to get it to automatically display. I guess as it was never fully implemented LR didn't finish the software
They must have finished the software, because a reversing camera on D3 was an option in some markets. I'm sure I read it somewhere in my handbook.D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

Hi Simon,
I have just bought my first GPS/navigator and made sure that it had a reversing camera option. So will now send you a PM for the unit.
Yes, but the D3 doesn't have any of the software to do that so the lines on BCBs must me encoded to the camera somehow. My thought is he's ended up with an early prototype camera. I'll be testing another one I've got here soon to see if that has them or notThe End

Doesn't the D4 have the option of assisted parking.
I'm pretty sure that this is only for the surround camera option and the lines are added to the image in the main camera module, not actually by the camera itself

By any chance did you have your tow ball on when you tested the camara???
I think you can just see it in the pic but not sure.

Hi BCB,
Is the image reversed (as the camera seems to be on the "wrong" side of the D3)?

Thanks Russell!
I took apart the camera housing last night - seems to be a CCD on a chip within the nice steel casing. As Pete says in the other posts, with the differential signalling this is not going to be as simple as I thought!
Some pics below in case they're of interest/use
Next step for me is probably to replace the camera circuit inside this housing with something cheaply available (rather than playing with the electronics, which may be a little too integrated for me!) - but you can see from the last picture the 4 contacts for the rosenberg connector - so it wouldn't be difficult to replace with a little soldering.
I'm just not sure whether I can get the output into a standard av-out.
Did you ever suss out which pins did what ?G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
