1st to 2nd gear hesitation

Question Does anyone else with a manual G/Box suffer from a flat Spot / hesitation when changing from 1st to 2nd gear, if so have you had it cured or do with have to live with it, Mad this is a pain in a*se when setting off @ roundabouts when towing, especially at rushhour when the roundabout is on a hill. Evil or Very Mad
Have driven an auto box, manually, but this did'nt seem to suffer the same problem unless the torque converted masks the problem.

Yes. Exactly the same problem, although it doesn't seem consistant. Sometimes when I pull away up an incline in first and change to second the engine seems to 'bog down' Shocked and there is zero acceleration in second. Not sure if it is just dropping off boost, or whether it's a software issue. It's so bad on occasion that I have had to change back into first to get going.

Point of interest, I have had all latest software loaded by dealer at end of January 06, although I believe there have been further upgrades since this date.

When it's good it's very good, but when it's broken I want my money back.

I think it's turbo lag that's being experienced. If you rev slightly higher than normal in 1st prior to changing ie say 3.5K, then the revs only drop to 2.5k when changing into 2nd. Then you simply shoot off as this is right in the meat of the torque band

Latest software release and patch cures this... mine pulls like a train now !! Hard to get used to after 15 months of trying to overcome the hesitation of 1st to 2nd changes.

The latest sw by the way is WELL worth getting. Car seems like a new beast again.

Ask them for the latest which is WDS 13 patch 4 I think. And its the engine management that needs doing.

I was fortunate a few weeks ago and met a LRA chap who came round to my place and upgraded everything to the latest versions... took about 40 mins or so.

Very nice chap he was and passionate about the D3 !

Did anyone notice their fuel economy dropping (ie getting worse) after the new software was installed? I went from an average of 22 mpg (13 L/100kms) to 17 mpg (16.5 l/100 kms) over the exact same roads immediately after my software was upgraded. Obviously this patch just dumps loads more fuel into the engine which is hardly ideal. If I wanted 17 mpg I would have bought the V8!!
