Cairns Blue or Rimini Red - dilema...... |
|
Evening,
My dealer has put me in a right old pickle and I now don't know what to do!
The Buckingham Blue HSE that was being arranged for me was sold before the dealer could reserve it. So I'm now being given the option of either Cairns Blue/Black Leather or Rimini Red/Alpaca and I don't know which one to choose.
Has anyone ever seen a D3 in Rimini Red? If so, does it look good or too much like a Postman Pat van? I've seen some pics of it on a RRS and it does look good.
Also, does colour have a major affect on resale?
Cheers,
Steve. Always forgive those who p*ss you off, but never forget their names......

I voted for the cairns blue as it's nice and the black leather is very practical especially when you are talking about future resale, but as you asked about Rimini Red gotta say it is stunning in that colour. The Alpaca leather wouldn't suit my personal situation I need a car I can just jump in and drive with cream leather I would need to scrub myself in the shower for an hour and put on my best cleanest clothes before I would set foot in it it looks very luxurious though. 1998 Isuzu Trooper 3.1DTi SWB Commercial *Fir Green (Mica)*

I would seriously think carefully about trade \ re-sale value of Red - it's not a popular colour for the Disco3. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Rimini Red is a stunning colour, wish it'd been available when I ordered mine!
I'd go for Rimini with Black interior (I know it wasn't an option) The End

rimini red or cairns blue |

I have Cairns blue and black and very happy with this. Alpaca interior very difficult to keep clean. However i have no doubt that you will enjoy your disco no matter which one you go for!!

The dirt isn't a problem if you clean the seat! I clean mine and treat with a waterproof conditioner and they are fine. Mine have had mud, blood and vomit on them and no problems seen. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Cairns Blue with Alpaca...
This was one of our preferred combos, and we got Tonga with Tundra!

We've recently bought a TDV6 S in Rimini/Alpaca cloth. It really looks distinctive and others have made favourable comments. No problems with dirt on seats yet (< 4 weeks old) but I plan to treat the seats with one of the new nanometric protection fluids.

Slimer,
That's my problem in a nut shell. I would've jumped at Rimini Red/Black or Cairns Blue/Alpaca, but unfortunately they're not on the table at the moment.
I do have two kids under 2 though, so maybe the black interior would be better suited. Always forgive those who p*ss you off, but never forget their names......

Hi,
Thanks, I guess I better start wondering who I'm buying this car for - me or the next owner?! Always forgive those who p*ss you off, but never forget their names......

Hi,
What seat cleaner do you use? I've been offered a supaguard treatment by the dealer, but I think it's just a waste of money. Always forgive those who p*ss you off, but never forget their names......

I'm quiete conservative with choice of colours but the Red looks great it really suites the car, it doesn't look so good on the RR Sport but really complements the Disco.

We have two children too. We had a Disco 2 with black leather and it soon showed up bits of muck.
We don't have a problem with the lighter leather getting dirty. I recently bought the LR approved leather cleaner/protector and it works really well.
The best solution really would be Alpaca/Tundra coloured seat covers like they used to make for the Freelander, but when or if they'll make them in any other colour than black is anyone's guess.

I like the red. Didnt like the idea on paper until I saw a couple of them and completely changed my opinion. I know people worry about resale and residuals, but first and foremost its something for you to enjoy and that includes the colour.
And as already suggested, seat covers should limit the marks inside and besides, the car's meant to be used and the odd scuff's inevitable.
Not much help am I? D3 HSE V8...

For what it’s worth I’d go for the Rimini / Alpaca combo, it would look stunning. I think Cairns is a colour that will date in time, whereas the R/A combo will still be classy in years to come.
Maybe I’m biased as my Dad has a Ranger Rover (full fat vsn, not diet Sport) in R/A & it’s georgeous.
Plus, in my opinion the black interior is very dark & dreary. It’s the one thing I don’t like on my Zambezi D3. It’s a dark place to be, very utilitarian.
