Issues-Cruise & Cameras

Lo,

Well found the first few issues on the car. I'm assuming they are faults rather than by design.

Cruise Control - if I set it at say 40mph going up a steep hill, it doesn't hold the speed, it just gradually tails off to around 20mph. When back on the level it will accelerate up to the set speed. Very weird, and not something I've ever experienced on a car with cruise. Anybody seem the same?

Cameras - I'm pretty sure that the front 2 have moved. When I select Junction View all it shows on the screen is a front view. Nothing at either side which isn't much use on a junction. One of the cameras appears to have a permanent green hue at the bottom of it. I've also noticed that each camera can intermittently go off, leaving behind a graphic for a camera with a line through it. They seem a little suss to be honest.

Other than that the cars still smashing.

could this be caused by being in too high a gear for the engine to be able to maintain the speed?

happens on the D3 because of that, well it does for me...

On an auto it should drop down a gear to maintain the speed. I've driven the same route using my D3 and dozens of other cars with cruise and its never been a problem before, so I suspect its faulty. At least I hope it is Smile

There's something wrong, I'd suggest.

Right tried the cruise control last night on a run which included a long hill. All worked fine and box even dropped a gear to maintain the speed up the hill. It was a little scarey as the cars in front had slowed for somthing and I did not want to apply beake and drop it out of CC, bit the bullet and hung on, luckily they all started to move again. As ststed by another I think you have a problem Big Cry sorry. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the effort Russell, especailly the impromptu game of chicken Wink

The car's booked in, so hopefully they can find a steep enough hill to reproduce it.

Its a pity LR dont offer ACC (active cruise control) on the D4. I have this system on a RRS and it works a treat. You set your speed and it cruises just fine until it "sees" a car infront, when it slows you down to that cars speed until they pull over, when the normal cruise is resumed. Takes a while to build confidence in the system (ie "trust it with your life") but it does work remarkably well. It can catch you out when you get in the D4 and forget it hasn't got ACC.

I think there is something wrong - I know it is a D3 but my cruise is always very keen to kick down as far as 2nd gear if necessary.

Also I notices when going down the A380 to my parents in Torbay that as you go down the steep hill after the big hill at the splatford split (if you have been there you will know it) the cruise actually dropped down to 3rd to get enough engine braking to stop it running away.. very smart!

D4 also drops down a gear to slow you down with the engine when going down hills.

Hey Eaglesrest,
I concur on the front bumper cameras, junction view is zero help. But that must be by design as from their position on the front of the bumper how could they see sideways?

On the cruise, it was nearly a deciding factor to stick with my old RRS with Adaptive CC which I find it hard to live without. But eventually the lure of the D4 was too great. I agree it is sad ACC is not avaoiable on D4.

Hi All,

Well its in the dealers this Monday so hopefully they will get to the bottom of it. My D4 will run away on the first sign of a downward slope regardless of what speed the cruise is set to, so I have to manually brake going down hills and accelerate up them Sad

I concur with all the views on ACC - I had it on a BMW and it was fantastic. If it was available on the D4 it would be the first option I'd choose. I even considered buying a RRS instead of the D4 just to get the function, but we needed the extra space. It's a real shame its not available.

Anyone noticed when the rear view camera is engaged on a night, you cant see hardly anything to the left of the screen due to some light flare?

Yes there is some light flare but not much, not nough to make a diffrence. If you look in the hand book it shows the rear camera up high in the brake light Whistle
