Interesting D4 Review

Well...when I say an interesting review , I mean bloody annoying Rolling Eyes

Here's the link:

http://www.carguideweb.com/articles/5927/

And some of the choice cuts:

Quote:
the presentation of the 2010 models of the Land Rover LR4, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Unfortunately, the LR2 compact SUV was not invited. Was it because there wasn’t enough time to test it? Were there logistical problems? Land Rover just didn’t want to? ...Perhaps it was simply because it’s unchanged this year.

Well perhaps you're simply right you dip$ hit.....give the man a pay rise.....it was a "2010 Model Year" launch, not a "2010 and the FL2 that everybody (including dumbass journalists who are too clever to read their press pack) should know hasn't been changed" launch.

Regarding the D4:
Quote:
According to Land Rover, owners of the old LR3 (produced until last year) considered it too rough, as much in terms of its exterior lines as for the lines of the dashboard.

I believe this should have read "owners of the BMW X5 and Audi Q7 considered it (the D3) too rough"

Quote:
While the LR4 is much smaller than the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport,

Yep - the D4 is soooo much smaller than the RRS....and it looks like a Fiat 500 if parked next to a FFRR Rolling Eyes

Quote:
In the middle of the dash there a big button that controls a system called “Terrain Response”

Would that be a button that you press, or would it be something that you turn, commonly known as a knob....which is what the author of this article is.

Quote:
As soon as you select “low mode”, the suspensions raise to increase ground clearance

Don't worry about mentioning that this only happens in certain modes, feel free to generalise everything.

Quote:
Basically, the only way you’ll get stuck in an LR4 is if you’re driving through a tsunami or on a planet that has never been explored by humans!

Ohhh...so now he's an expert......that must be why I've got mine stuck plenty of times.....it doesn't matter how good a 4x4 is, if you try hard enough you can easily get them stuck. At least this time his comment is well intentioned.

Regarding the FFRR:
Quote:
However, the whole electrical system is new, which is good news considering Land Rover products’ horrible reputation for reliability...

Yep - North American cars are much much better.

Quote:
Sure, on an extremely difficult trail, sometimes it has to let the LR4 go by, but to get to that point, you have to have a very thorough knowledge of 4x4s.

Regarding the RRS:
Quote:
the Range Rover Sport remains the least capable of all the Land Rovers, LR2 notwithstanding

I've no idea WTF he's talking about here.....there's so little difference that his comments just make him look stupid.

Regarding Land Rover quality:
Quote:
I don’t remember the exact words of the folks at Land Rover, but to summarize: “No, Land Rover isn’t very reliable but we are working hard to improve our vehicles. And rest assured that Land Rover will never turn its back on an owner.”

I'm not quite so sure that LR would have said that their vehicles were crap (especially during the launch), but what's this about not turning their back on an owner?

RANT OVER....sorry but I read this article and I got me a bit hot under the collar....I feel better now.

MODS - although this is a serious review that I'm commenting on, I am still ranting so feel free to move if you feel it necessary Thumbs Up

I think the author (a certain Mr Alain Moron) misspelt his name on the article Whistle

Paul, as all 4x4 enthusiasts are not all equal, journalists aren't either.

then again some just DO read the press release and cut and paste, other do test try the cars and eventually buy them

See not all of them equal Whistle
