I know the answer will be in the manual but I haven't got it with me at the moment and I'm sure someone here will know!
What size is the D4 fuel tank? I've put 69 litres in it and it was fairly empty (9 miles left on distance to empty). I seem to remember getting about 90 litres in my old TD5 Disco so I assumed the D4 would be similar, but it would appear not.

Yup.
And when it decides you haven't got enough fuel to reach your destination, it also warns you on the sat nav (before the fuel light has come on)

I know this is a old thread but as have just got my new D4 and filled it up with the car telling me I only had 6 miles to go I was surprised that I could only get 73.48lt in as with my old D3 I would get over 84lt in the same position! I guess it has the same tank just being more conservative on how much fuel was left! Range Rover Sport Estate 2.0 P400e Hse Dynamic Black

Looking back at my old D3 manual it says the fuel capacity was 86 litres and I seem to remember regularly being able to put close to this amount in when filling up from empty. The D4 manual says the tank is now 82 litres (usable) but I've never got more than 75 in it even when running down to a couple of miles left. LR must have changed either the way the capacity is measured or the calibration on the fuel remaining gauge. The manual also states that you need 4 litres in the system to be able to start from dry, so I'm assuming that's what is meant by 'usable' in the new manual?
Either way, I'm about 10 litres down on what I can get in it from '0'miles left?

I find the size of the tank a PITA.The most i have ever got in it is 75l.
You would think they would have increased the size of it,not made it smaller in the latest models
The D2 TD5 used less fuel, and i could get 90l in it easily.
I would hate to tow anything with it,particularly as we do long distances here.
There are after market long range tanks available, but then the spare has to go on a rear wheel carrier.
