Ahh yes, but that would be rather selfish, especially for your fellow D3 owners
I find it rather annoying when I am flying down the motorway, and the nav says "Do you accept the improved route" What do you do?
???? I usually respond yes, and then carry on as before, most times there is no incident as its been cleared and the system has not caught up.
I usually find the fantastic road prescence of the D3 clears any obstructions rather well

very true.
btw its not selfish as all D3s would be aware of the missinformation ... cant have D3s burning up the atmoshphere in traffic jams .... there... another reason for the system... its ecologicall... we should suggest it to UK Gov... itll be law before you know it. 2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

I can see this is an old thread, but just for info: I have the basic nav system but had the TMC module fitted by the dealer. Works like a charm! 8)
How difficult would it be to upgrade from basic to premium, e.g. the 4x4 info display? Is all the hardware already in the D3? Is the difference just in the sofware?
Nothing is impossible, as you have discovered with the TMC, but I suspect it would be far from cost effective to do, even if you could find a dealer willing to try....
I know that it is theoretically possible to even rebuild the car if you want to but I was curious about the actual difference between the basic and the premium nav. I know that my car has the position sensors on the suspension, it shows the steering position of the front wheels (on the driver info display) so that sensor is there too. So, what actual hardware is still missing compared to the premium nav vehicles? The electronic compass maybe?
I had a look at the nav system description in GTR, and could not find any reference to a difference in nav installations, just the mention of different options like TMC for different markets...
If there is no difference in hardware, then it wouldn't be too difficult or expensive to upgrade, wouldn't it? 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

Will need to consult the parts list to give you a steer on that.

My TMC has been useless for the last 4 weeks - It hasn't picker up any signal! Is Classic FM still transmitting the signal? Has anyone else found that it's rubbish at the moment?Loving the power of the TDV8!

The Classic FM signal, on RDS, is a bit regional. One of the downsides of the TMC module is the length of time it takes to scan for a transmitting station. This is clearly a weakness, and yes I have noticed that the little red line does, from time to time, seem to appear more regularly than wold be ideal.
I have no idea why the module takes such a long time to scan the available stations........

TMC = Totally Misleading Communications, no I am not blaming LR or the technology - if anybody knows who the regional system is 'managed' by for NE Scotland can you let me know. If it is a regional system. Road works warnings are left on for months up here, for works which may have been there a couple of days. It's more or less useless, I dont believe any information it gives for this area & for any where else at the moment, I certainly would not trust dynamic navigation to it. . 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'.
