looks like two different types to me. The ones they put up a year or so ago are LR008052(http://www.landroverspb.ru/foto/8/LR008052big.jpg ) and the LR4's are LR014002.[/img]

yes they are different, the early ones dont need resisters but have an ugly white edge where as the D4 ones have a black edge and look wayyy cooler, different shape lenses as wellRichard

Unless you have a D3 in Zermatt or Zambezi Silver, they look the nuts The D3 LED's are silvery edge and the LED units are different to the D4, and the D3 ones work with no modification.

okay, so i was about to order the new lights and the parts guy at the dealership kept warning me that the harnesses were different part #'s between the LR3 and LR4 and couldn't be certain that they would match up and that the computer would recognize them. It seesm pretty clear through the forums previously that it would work fine, but again my LR3 is from the states. Is there a difference in the tail light harnesses in LR3's made in the states versus the UK? Wouldn't think so, but if i buy these things and they dont work i can't bring them back. Thoughts? I just want to make sure before i spend $700 on these bad boys.
The lamp part number for the D3 were different - the US-Spec cars had the side marker lamps, whereas the others didn't. This also applies the the harness that fits the lamp units themselves, for the same reason. The D4 lamp units I have (cheers Slimer ) came with the side marker lamps as well as the harness, so would be suitable for use in the States.
I really can't see any reason as to why these wouldn't work, although you WILL need a resistor (as discussed in previous posts).Regards,
Mick

awwww man why does land rover do this!!!???
I have a pair of the old version I bought around a year ago, I mounted them and removed them 3 days later... it made my D3 look like an old Lexus is300 or some kinda Japanese car... they only looked good at night. I usually dont really care what people think, but I know people thought they were some aftermarket led lights I had put on... it just didnt look right, something was way off. Maby its because my plastics are not painted but I will NEVER paint them and if I do I might as well never go offroading again... wich is pointless having a D3. I will now take the opportunity to mention that the only thing I dont like about the new D4 and newer D3s is that they have the painted wheel archs, bumpers etc... takes away that "RUGGED" look. Thats just my opninion
Earlier today I saw the pic posted above and got all excited on how they looked with the rear light guards mounted over them and gave me some inspiration to re-mount them but I kneeeew somthing was not right.... those are the new ones.
The new D4 led lights are way different, My D3 is an 08 zermatt silver and it did NOT look good with the older version LED's!
Back then I bought them off ebay and paid a fortune (us$700) for the pair. just to mount on and off
They are collecting dust in my basement.. well they are actually inside the same LandRover OEM box they came in. Maby someday Ill get some $ selling a pair of unique and rare D3 tail lights that never became as famous as the current ones
Soooo... How much are the new D4 rear LED's currently worth$$$ ? Any more available? "Dude don't even worry. The water is only about a foot deep."

Thanks Spooky

For anyone looking for tips on how to fit the resistor you might find this post of help. I used magnets to attach the resistor to the body of the car. Drilling a hole of course works as well. Using velcro or sticky tack might me problematic, since these things get quite warm/hot during longer times of use (hazards on for some time).
They usually all sell neodymium ring magnets in different sizes. Just pick the shop that offers the lowest priece (just make sure you check the shipping costs as well as minimum order quantities that might apply.
I used 16mm neodymium ring magnets, but 20mm would work probably as well.

Slimer, I was wondering if you had anymore of these lights available. I have just bought a 2008 Land Rover LR3 Tonga green, V8 HSE and quickly changing things out. Will they work/match up on the Canadian spec LR3 and do you have the resistors.
Thanks
Ian
