Front Wheel Bearing Noise |
|
My TDV6 has done 75k and recently has developed a whine from the right hand front which varies with speed. As it disappears when turning right and gets worse when turning left I assumed it was the right hand front wheel bearing.
At the 75k service my local LR dealer agreed and wanted over £300 to change it, but couldn't do the job as the part was back ordered and they couldn't be bothered to find out when it was coming in. I called 3 dealers and located one which I have just fitted, but the noise is exactly the same.
Anyone got any ideas?

OK I have fixed it. The problem was the front wheel bearing on the left hand side.
In my experience a noisey wheel bearing goes quiet when you unload it, but obviously not on a Discovery 3! I'm glad I didn't pay the Dealer £350 to change the right hand wheel bearing as they recommended.
It's quite an easy job for those facing the same problem, just beware that the complete hub assembly that you have to buy is back ordered at present.
