Taking the stuff they value simply means they go out with a renewed and wholly unjustified sense of entitlement (and grievance) and nick a replacement.
Kicking the living s t out of them and making it clear that if they do it again they end up on crutches for life WITHOUT benefits, that MIGHT do the trick.
