HELP! Fitting Optima Red Top battery as main battery

Guys, excuse my complete lack of battery knowledge here - I bought a new ORT battery and asked the guys servicing the car to fit it; they in turn have asked their auto electrician to assist as they were concerned the high ampage of the ORT (1000?) isnt suitable to the LR D3 electrics - terminals rated to only 400amp?? sorry their speak...I need somneone who knows this stuff that I might be able to get them to talk to to explain if its OK to fit an ORT to a D3....
anyone able to volunteer to take a call????
cheers

PM drivesafe (Tim) he knows more about the D3 charging system than anyone.

The D3 has a high charge voltage which the battery needs to be able to take.

Why do you want to use an Optima anyway rather than a Lead Calium?
