Simpson in September
Is anyone heading out into the Simpson next week?06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

I am in Coober Pedy I have had the most interesting desert crossing ever. Two sand storms in 2 days. First one, 40C day and 40 knots + NW winds. THEN the SW blow. We were on the French Liine on those days. Lost the track couldn't climb 2 metre wall of blowing sand. Snatching vehicles. Full report later.06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. The Sand Storm in the Simpson.
The visibilty dropped to less than 100 metres.
Sand across the Rig Road.

I see in that last photo you have the standard 18inch wheels on. What tyres have you got strapped to them?2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather

The wheels are 19" RR wheels fitted with MTR's. The tyres went well , but I cracked 2 rims on the gravel roads . The MTRs are very near the perfect tyre for outback driving. They did not chip or loose lugs like other "long" life brands. MTRs will not give super long wear life but thats not they are for.
