Has anybody heard anything about the pending software update
for our Disco 3 system?
Or been in for an update!

Dealers are starting to get their Version 7 (Update) disks through now. Apparently V6 was the first with D3 SW on it - the disks cover all LR models.
V7 was problematic to install on the PC and now V7 (Update) is the latest.
Mines in on the 14th to be upgraded and rumour has it my Setting Menu will be activated - lets wait and see.

Won't be long before these Cd's hit the black market then! Just make sure its a V7 (update) your getting.

yesterday and today after starting her up driving 500 meters I got all the faults:
This as fixed amber lightS
Suspension- AMBER/RED?
Illuminates amber when a suspension fault occurs which still
allows the vehicle to be driven normally. If the symbol flashes red, the vehicle
should be driven slowly until qualified
assistance can be obtained.
The first illumination of the indicator will be accompanied by a warning chime.
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Electronic Traction Control (ETC) - AMBER?
If the indicator illuminates constantly, and does not extinguish when the DSC switch is pressed,
a fault has been detected in the system and DSCand/or ETC will be inactive
drive with care and seek qualified assistance as soon as possible.
Brake systems Emergency brake assist - AMBER?
If the indicator remains amber after starting, or illuminates whilst driving, a fault with the EBA
system is indicated. Drive with care and seek qualified assistance urgently.
And in the System display!
ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT
Engine management system
registers a serious fault -reduced performance may be experienced.
Avoid high speeds and consult
your Land Rover Dealer/Authorised Repairer.
HDC FAULT SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
System fault. Drive with care and do not attempt to descend steep slopes.
Seek assistance immediately.
SUSPENSION FAULT
A fault has been detected in the air suspension system.
System may still operate normally.
Seek assistance immediately.
TRANSMISSION FAULT LIMITED GEARS AVAILABLE
Advises driver that automatic transmission has a fault and performance may be affected.
Seek assistance immediately.
I turned it of, waited 5 minutes and all faults were gone!
So it`s kind of like a mac, anything goes wrong just turn it og an boot it up again!

No, it's not like a Mac: if it were, we would all deny that it ever has problems!
So, how can I see which firmware version I have?
My car has been fine by the way since I got it back from Land Rover (after two weeks in the shop!) with the entire wiring loom replaced.

I talked to my dealer yesterday and he had just recived version 7
Mine is going in 22 March for an well deserved update.
I`m also installing the BURLED WALNUT FASCIA KIT...nice!
I will post pictures on my gallery next week! Also including the info screen!

LR technical director has confirmed today that at Version 7.5.x - However be aware - an upcoming version is intended to remove their faulty features eg cabin heater - my dealer is concerned as to this as they could end liable to the customer for removing (is it akin to theft??) features/parts of the customers vehicle. It is apparently being referred back to LR as to how this is to be dealt with. Apparently even a flat battery could end up with them loading new software on (& removing features)!! BE AWARE - & COMPLAIN/ADVISE YOUR DEALER THAT THE REMOVAL OF ANY PART/FEATURE FROM YOUR VEHICLE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

I wonder if there is a precident under uk law ?
Never the less, doesnt bode well for new vehicles delivered from 'second build' (post end March) does it ?? Looks like CABIN PRE-HEAT RIP.

Needs more publicity! - the very idea of a car manufacturer removing features from a customer's vehicle without authority is "novel" - perhaps the forum's members could all write to the press & ?Watchdog? on the issue to alert potential buyers of this.
It is of course an issue that goes far beyond the cabin pre-heater - many of the car's features are software powered - we will all be wondering every time the car goes into a LR garage exactly what will be left working on its return!!! Whether items are software features or actual physical components, they are still part of the product we have purchased and for the seller to attempt to remove part of the product they have sold is a rather interesting concept (imagine buying a TV from say Comet, taking it back for a repair & finding they have removed the remote that was faulty or deleted the teletext function that wasn't quite correct!!! - not likely that anyone would accept that on a £400 tele - & we are dealing with £40k cars!)

Is it just the FBH timer feature that is to be removed? The Land Rover website has a build your own vehicle section. If you specify HSE TDV6 then click on "View Standard Features" then the list clearly states Fuel Burning Heater as a standard item.
It does not however mention the timer at all, and does not refer to it as a "Pre-Heater"
Unless anyone has it in writing, or can otherwise prove that it was sold as a timed pre-heater, then I think we are on dodgy ground if it came to legal action that could cost LR a lot of money. They will try to defend it on the grounds that it was never their intention to have the feature, and never advertised it as such.
I think that morally, they should keep the feature installed, and if possible it should be made to work. Maybe as Ecosse says, if a group approach is made in a public forum (Watchdog etc.) then it may have more clout.
I am not a legal expert, and I may be very wrong in my opinion, so is anyone on here able to argue otherwise?
