Hi
Does anyone know if the tops of the door trims are real leather on an 05 HSE?
They are going white and sticky, i've got some leathe refinishing kit from my classic car days, so if they are real leather, then no problem...
If they are plastic cow, anyone got any ideas?

Plastic. Wash with mild detergent. The sticky stuff could be something that's been applied after the car left the factory; nothing like that has happened to my car. Mind you, at least one of the doors on my car has not survived the kids without permanent damage. I think it was when the boy licked the door. What is it with kids? Why can't they just sit still and stay clean. (And wouldn't it be a dull world if they did?)

Thanks, It looks like its been valeted regularly with silicone sprays, its taken an age to get it back to a satin finish rather than greasy. I think these may have upset the plastic, i'll try more mild detergent washing!

Someone may have used WD40, that turns to varnish when it dries. Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

When I left both my back windows open overnight it rained hard and both had milky white stains down them which was silicone polish running.
To get rid of the shine and stains I used the foam spray that you can buy to clean computers / VDUs / keyboards etc
It actually is a very potent stain remover and removes silicone shine no problem
Buy from PCworld or ebay etc SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Thanks for all the advice. It was def a coating coming off. I warmed them with a hairdryer and it lifted the rest off. Washed down with a mild detergent and recoated with a leather selaer (airbrush) They have come up like new. I'd tried all of the various quality interior treatments.
Are we sure the capping with the door handle and LR badge isn't leather? The part with the speakers in is certainly plastic but the other part is behaving just like leather.

All of the interior trim is poly-leather/vinyl/plastic (door cards, dash and cubby-box lid). Apart from the seats, I don't think there's any leather anywhere else on the D3. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue
