Waterfall
I've recently noticed (because of the great British summer) that there seems to be an interesting design feature on my D3. Much of my working day involves lifting heavy equipment in and out of the back of the disco, and recently that seems to be usually done in the rain. Initially I thought that the tailgate was fantastic, keeping technical gear dry, but I've now noticed not one but two waterfalls. Beautifully designed, they direct water from both top edges of the tailgate glass (when open) straight into the back of the vehicle!. - even with the bottom tailgate closed...

mmm not noticed that one and we've used the rear fold out picnic seat a number of times in the rain.
Mind you... the rain was not torrential, so I assume yours was ???

No, it doesn't have to be torrential.
With the tailgate open the top edge of the glass (just under the centre brake light) is lower than the rest of the panel. When it rains all the water collected on the tailgate runs towards this edge which then channels it left and right until it pours straight down into the back of the car! - normal rain will do it - just wondered if others had found a cure, or is a pipe missing on mine?
I'm thinking of fitting gutters and a water butt (could be cooler than a snorkel) 2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

Does your tailgate sit level or angled to the rear ?
Never had this happen in any sort of rain.

Thats what I mean... when fully open is it level or sloped toward the brake light ?
I noticed this phenomena for the first time last week and it is more evident when the D3 is parked at a slight angle and the water just pours into the back where it splashes on the rear tailgate strut.
It was really annoying and filled my fridge slide with water.

When fully open mine slopes up/down? towards the brake light - if it didn't I'd hit my head.

Mine doesn't seem to do this. The Citroen C5 I used to have did though! What a cp design that was. Mine was an early car but I bet they still do it!Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Dont know, down here in OZ we have just had 7 years of drought, and I have only had D3 for 2 years,
although its just rembered how to rain Lets hope the drought is realy over
Next time it rains I wil see how much water floods in the back.
At the moment water is very novel, although if it never stops raining I may get jack of it.
I may have written a whole lot of drivvel but you get my drift
