Removeable Towbar Problem

Hello

I bough a used towbar off a user here a while ago, looks in good condition...however it will not fit my dicso 3 proper.

When I insert it, it throws the 3/4inch pin out into he mounting but not far enough for the key to be removed?

Any ideas? Pics attached...

Have you given it a good tap upwards with a hammer? Usually locates it properly.

One point though, that Pin, should be almost all the way IN the towbar when trying to insert it.

Hi, Clean out the socket where the towbar fits, it may be full of muck and stuff stopping the towbar being inserted fully into place, another tip would be to get a small file and file the hole where the retaining pin locates, again to remove any muck and rust that may be there. I think the green handle may not go all the way round for the key to be removed, but don't try to turn key to hard, as you know, you may end up snapping the key in the lock. When you do remove it, try and get a red plug to fit in the hole to stop muck getting back in and stopping the towbar fitting again.

Thumbs Up

If you take that plate off the side, it can all come apart in the wrong way, and if put back together on the wrong spline you can get the behaviour you see.

Don't ask how I know Whistle Big Cry

It can be adjusted, but its a bit of a pig of a job, and under no circumstances should you release the pin into the lock position with the plate off or it will all go wrong and put a ball bearing in orbit.

Of course, it could just be crud in the hole as above.

With the towbar outside the car, a tap on the pin that shows should have the locking bar shoot out quite violently to the fully locked position. You can then wind it back in with the key. If its not coming out far enough, that could be the issue.

From the picture with the photoshop white line, my two cents would be that its not going far enough up into the hole.
