How much to pay for a leather interior...? |
|
I am looking to upgrade my XS interior to leather. I know you can get a retrim at seat surgeons for about £900 for 7 seats all in and it is a great job.
I have looked on ebay and I cant believe how much people will pay for a leather interior (unseen).
The one below (as at midday on Sunday) is at £500+ with 9 hrs to go. It is only the 5 seats and could well need some attention to make it perfect. OK it is HSE with arm rests, electrics etc..... But the maths doesnt seem right - say it goes for £600 or more plus delivery plus fitting then you are looking at about the same price as a full retrin at Seat Surgeons. Personally I couldnt bring myself to spend more than £400 for the ebay lot.

Bear in mind that going down the eBay route, you get another set of seats. The comparison is better made between what LR sell a full set for and what one can find on eBay. The latter are often offered with door cards too, and might have features lacking on the original (arm-rests, heating elements). Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

But a pair from LR are new not out of a used vehicle. They are missing at least a few parts, the condition may not be that great and you can recover a cloth set for under a grand (maybe under 700 if you go for first 2 rows only).
Seems an awful lot to me but clearly others disagree , hence the price.

But if you go the fleabay route, then you will have a spare set to sell on ebay to recoup costs, and maybe cosmetic repair.
Personally I would go the LR replacements, they will have all the elements and possibly the motors installed, retrimming yours will be ok, and if done to a high spec not noticable difference from originals, but no gadgets n buttons galore to play with.

Current price still only £600, with all the cards n gadgets n airbags. If I were changing thats the way to go TBH, the minor scuffs can be repaired.
