Did this mod today. Those 7mins in the oven seemed to go on forever! Just feels so wrong putting your car lights into an oven!!
Have done one side completely clear and the other I have left the straight reflector in place as per Colin's method. Top tip cheers.
Still unsure which I prefer so will give it a few weeks.
Thanks to all on here, especially Very Disco for this mod. MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone

Hi guys
Just a quick question it's taking ages to get mine apart with a dewalt heat gun set at 300 degrees so I'm going to pop it in the oven. Was just wondering as mine are adaptive zenons with the electronic pack attached to the lamp etc must I strip all this off and the bulbs and the plastic bits in side the main headlamp unit or will they be okay for the few minutes it will bake for in the oven?
Just abit worried as someone has said before it s very unnatural

I put my adaptives in the oven complete, with the lamp lens side (front) facing up, took about ten minutes on the lowest heat setting, gas mk ½ I think.
No problems at all with the electronics stuff inside, I think it takes quite a while for the heat to penetrate through.
Think about putting a chilled pie in the oven on a low heat, it'll still be cold in the middle after 20 minutes Clive

I did some mock up on photoshop and was not sure how it would end up, especially on my maya gold D3.
Obviously this mod would look much better on dark D3s. I look forward to see how it looks on you Disco
Nice mod Verydisco! I agree with you that this mod will look better in dark D3s. Did some one try this mod in a chawton white? Any pictures will be appreciated.

Ok so I have read, re-read and re-read again this thread and it's time to "take the plunge" I have ordered the 3156 Chromed bulbs in advance and have a quick question for those that have used them
Please can someone tell me how you make a wedge shaped bulb fit into a round 581 type holder
Cheers,

Hi Geoff, I guess it would help if I actually checked first before posting
So disco 3's have a wedge shaped holder and the 3156 bulbs are the right ones
I have yet to see a cairns blue with this modification so I will post some pictures before and after when I'm brave enough to have a go

I've just done two pairs today! I just bought some Xenon headlights, did my halogen set first and was nice and easy, then did my Xenon pair! They look great!

Ok so I have completed this project and relatively "pain free" using the "hair dryer" method and a huge thanks to 'verydisco' and all other contributors to the thread and for the PM's I received but I'm now left with the dilema of with or without the small amber reflector I guess its very much a personal thing and if it helps a grille mod is next and to fit the colour coded arches that I bought a few months ago
Sorry for the quality and the lack of a nice clean car but I value your opinions - Ultimately though SWMBO will decide as it's her wheels

Very Nice Ajay
Its a personal preference with the reflector in or out but if you ask me they look better without on yours. I've got mine in but they are shadow painted black to match the car colour and they cover the led indicator strip that I hid behind them. Also got the very expensive hids4u led indicator bulbs but they are worth every penny as they look the dogs danglers D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
