Hi All,
Really want a D3 but thinking that the reason for not many being on the market is the D4 coming and people waiting to p/x their D3's later hence hanging on to them for now.
So, with that logic, would it be better to wait til Sept-ish to buy one (when's the D4 out?) when lots of px'd vehicles will be going through the auctions or on forecourts?
Thing is, went to Stratstone near Chelt last week and the sales guy said that they hadn't yet taken a single pre-order for a D4 yet. So, are sales expected to be slow and will I wait only to find the same problems in a couple of months time?
Thoughts welcome. Also, I can buy direct from auctions as a trader at trader-only auctions through personal contacts and even at auctions prices are high.

....when newer, different, better (maybe) is available comes out some change just to "have"
so perfectly good vehicles will be traded & sold just to get one....in some cases a vanity thing
The residuals fall (quicker than normal)
What you have to console your self with is that just because there is an alternative out there it doesn't affect the performance, reliability, economy whatever of what you have...it just means your in the old model & someone else isn't
The reason to change is what drives the consumer society will all live in....... BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I agree - I think the D3 is a great car - hence I want one
Can't afford a brand new car so it's just a case for me of whether it's worth waiting for people to start changing/upgrading to the D4 so that more D3's become available and prices drop a little as well as there being more choice than there is at the moment.

I have a car lease running out in August, so I had to get hopping (as the next car had to be owned rather than leased).
I had been following the advertised prices on Autotrader for a couple of months, and it looked like prices were starting to go down at the end of April, but then there was a sharp uptick and scarcity, where my search criteria would have pulled up 15 cars, they would come up with only 4.
I suspect D3s are going to get rarer and rarer until the D4 comes out. That's why I jumped on the one I did...On that day, I called about four that had gone up on Autotrader in that week, and they were all sold. The indy dealer I bought it from said that they were going for a lot more at auction and the like than they had been.
I suspect I've paid about 2k more for what I got than what the same spec will be come October. I wish my lease would run out in October, instead...
Oh well, at least I have a D3 for the Summer !
