My SatNav screen wont turn off !

OK so tonight I locked my truck and was playing around with the 3rd button on the remote -- it makes the lights go on. Cool. But after that, my wife went outside and said "your radio screen and the navigation screen are on". Sure enough, the radio is lit up with the time and the satnav screen has the land rover logo. Started the truck up, shut it down, locked and unlocked... the same thing.

Now I just got it this weekend, so its still new to me.

Is this normal?

I LOVE THIS TRUCK (05 LR3 (USA) HSE)

Hi there

it does stay on for a while sometimes if you have been playing Wink ....however if it is on for ages, i.e. still on an hour or so later the advice of my local dealer was to disconnect the battery to reset. This happened to me last year. Even running the car again wouldn't persuade it to unfreeze. D3's can be a bit sensitive to being started up and shut down too quickly....bit like a PC Thumbs Up
end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Mine does the same, but when I start the car and turn it off the screen acts normal. Mentioned it to my dealer last week but they had no clue.

Joining the club of a proud LR logo screen

Just got my disco 2 weeks ago. With the weather going cold I had my first early morning flat battery / no start encounter. I still had some juice left and it was turning over but no firing up. Shocked Big Cry Question
My D3 hated the exercise and all lights were flashing on and off on the dash as if she was about to die. Ok, I admit I was playing around a bit configuring, left the doors open, inside lights on, etc before that happened. But I thought hell, my battleship should be able to sustain that...no, no this D3 is sensitive Rolling Eyes
Oh well jump started her and tried to forget this all happened...but she does not forget...
2 days later same scene only this time car is fully loaded with entire family ready to go to my brother in laws for new year...ok everybody unload.. Evil or Very Mad
Next day my wife notices the LR logo screen after re-opening and closing the door after forgetting something in the car...
Today I was able to just turn off the logo screen by turning the radio/nav on/off after re-opening and locking. I hope that is a workaround until I go hard resetting the car. Before that I will try to clear any faults via a OBD II interface.
Bow down Bow down Bow down D3

How old is the battery? It's recommended to fully charge the battery after a heavy discharge or low voltage issues.

It is fairly new, about 1-2 years old. I drove it a lot to recharge it and the battery drain I expect came from the permanent LR splash screen overnight or the inside lights on for about 45min once while cleaning...this may have caused the dilemma. The battery is working fine now but I am afraid to leave any lights or radio on for any amount of time without starting the engine.

Check the voltage on the battery, i drive mine everyday but still need to put to on a charger every few weeks, this time of year especially when you have the AC on, all your lights, heated seats, wipers etc does ask a lot of the battery....

Thanks Paul I will put it on a charger to be on the safe side. I got myself an ODB interface to diagnose further errors and get a read out

I have now charged the battery using a trickle charger and deactivated the interior lights. So far by battery is back in shape. I can start at -10 Celsius without problems. Thumbs Up

Mine did this. Then the radio did it. Had to disconnect the battery everytime which was annoying and inconvenient to say the least. My solution was a new head unit in the end.
