OZ TENT FITTING TO G4 ROOFRACK |
|
Hi Guys,
This might have been asked before or posted, however i cannot find so here goes.
Does anyone that has the G4 type roofrack, know if an oz tent fits up there???
I have the tent, and bars with box. However would like a roofrack only if the tent will fit.
Thanks in advance.............

I believe the oz only fits on top of the G4 rack, which means you need the front crossbar that only comes with the G4 (not expo) rack. ie the Oz is too long to fit on the load floor of the G4 rack.
I carry mine on crossbars, using the lashing eyes from the G4 rack to give a quick & secure fixing. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

G4 Rack uses D2 Crossbar to make the front rail that DaveT speaks of. Fairly regular item on the well known auction site
End result very prof looking Expo rack that can take the longer loads like pyranha kayaks as featured on the G4 challenge "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Siply cold-chisel or drill out the 4 riverts holding the rear cross-bar in place, then ease the cross bar out and the Oz tent fits on the rack no problems - plus the cross bar can easily be refitted - just use some self-tappers to allow easy fitting/removal. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
