LAND Rover Service Plan Good buy or not? |
|
Hi
Just had my 07 TDV6 second service carried out at Morrisons of Stirling and they have offered me a service plan to cover the next 5 services which will include the timing belt change.
The cost of this is £38.76 over 56 months a total of £2170.98 or a 3service one at £33.26 over 32 months.
Does this seem like a good deal? I am planning on keeping the car but they did say that if I sold it before I could either transfer it over to the new owner and they carry on the payments or get a refund of any excess money.
It looks like it's a no lose deal.
Could someone list the costs for services from 45000 to 105000 miles ?
Cheers
Graeme

I paid 375 for a 90k service about 4 weeks ago - does the plan cover tyres ? I saw the brochure at my dealer today but didnt bother looking at it Duncan

No it does not cover tyres or brakes just what you would get at a service. I just got 4 new tyres for my car.

works out as average of £434.20 per service Including the timing belt change.
My 30k service cost £320 my imminent 45k service is less than £300 inc brake fluid.
I'm guessing that this will tie you in to use only themselves for service and not ANY landrover dealer.
It's not really saving you any money, but if you are definately going to keep it for 5 years worth of service, then it may make it easier for you to budget the payments, although I'd be more inclined to set up a standing order to another bank account and just use that at the time. You'll always be able to negotiate a better price for each service
As your car gets older, you may well find that you'd be happy to take it to an independant (esp when out of warranty.) and save yourself some money.... Bodsys Brake Bible

There should be a third option which says No, I'd make the choice at each service time.... Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi
There was three options but for some reason the third is not showing
My second service cost me £385 and that was the cheapest I could get it without traveling 100 miles plus. Other local dealers were wanting upto nearly £500
So I do realise that down South there seems to be more competion between dealers so prices are cheaper.
The dealer says the 105000 miles service would be about £1000 on it's own.
But as you say the plan makes it easier to budget, I am no good at putting money away in other accounts I always borrow some and don't get round to putting it back
Cheers
