Come 2011 20% of us will be driving CNH/LNH cars to my opinion (which is even far environment-friendly).
And then they wil tax that too

You can do the math until your bored but at the end of the day I think personal choice comes into it.
I'm just trying to justify it to myself, oh and of course Mrs Nasher
I'm also concerned about the range, as when towing 2.5tns of boat and trailer to Devon several times a year I really don't want to stop before I get there to fill up again.
What do we reckon towing 2.5 to 3tns with a V8 - 10mpg maybe?
Nasher. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

If stopping for filling up bothers you, you should go for the LPG installation as it almost doubles your range. You can empty the LPG tank first and then continue on petrol.
And is a quick fuel stop that bad after 3 - 3 1/2" hrs off driving? Roel

I agree with Roel about an extra LPG tank as a range extender, particularly if you drive close to refillers. An alternative is an auxilliary petrol tank - quite common here in Oz (but not a lot of LPG refillers in the outback, hence a petrol tank). Mine was about US$1000 for an extra 105 litre capacity tank. I've made it 1200 kms (about 750 miles) with the two tanks pulling a small camping trailer. Then of course the spare tyre has to be mounted somewhere else (mine on the back end on a specially designed carrier, but it makes the D3 quite a bit longer to parallel park). Stopping for fuel on the trips to Devon is only a pain because of the boat on the back.
Its @2.25M wide, over 8M long on it's trailer, and the A-frame tops out about 3.5M off the road.
Once you get off the Motorways it can be almost impossible to get into some of the smaller petrol stations.
Thanks for all your help guys, I'm probably going to end up with a TDV6, but will look at the LPG options.

A couple of things to remember about LPG
1. you won't be able to use the Euro-Tunnel
2 you will get less MPG on gas than you will on petrol - but then at less than half price who cares
