Does anyone know how this will affect the superceded ignition ACC switch setting, perhaps from other brands of vehicles?
I assume that when the button is pressed to start the engine, IGN ON is part of the process and when pressed to stop the engine, IGN OFF occurs. But if ACC is ON whenever the FOB is close enough (eg "key" left in vehicle), is the battery going to be flattened prematurely?

If I understand your question correctly the way this has worked in my last two BMW's is:
Press start is same as position 1
Press start again is same as position 2
But press start at any time with clutch down and car starts
So if you want the 12v supply on when you have stopped these cars, I pressed start twice without touching the pedals. Is that what you wanted to know ? SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

on the LR Freelander (auto) I had as a loaner recently if you press the start button you just get 'pos 1' but if you put your foot on the brake pedal you get 'pos 2' and engine starts.

If you log on to Land rover owner info and look at the Range rover 2010 manual it shows under driving and Operation how to operate the keyless start, i quess that this will be exactly the same on the disco. There is also info under navigation manuals which covers the new sport and Disco 4. hope this helps

i'm driving a freelander at the moment with the push button start.
if you press the brake pedal and push the button it starts.
just press the button once and the radio/nav etc will come on
press and hold for a few seconds will turn the ignition on
press again once and everything switches off.
personally i prefer the old fashioned way Duncan
