Time to say goodbye
After 12 months of trouble free ownership it's time to say goodbye to my Disco. I miss the power and handling of a good sports saloon so it's back to a BMW. Bought my misses a cooper s thinking that would give me my fix of driving fun but it just wetted my appetite even more. To anyone who need loads of room, 7 seats or off road ability I would fully recommend the disco. Thanks to all who've given advice on this great forum. Good news for other owners is that I’ve just got £4k more for my 07 xs auto than I was offered in January.

I know a fleet company who have a small team to sort big problems with cars. Ford, Audi, Citroen, Vauxhall, Saab, Volvo, LR all shared between them . . . . . .
And they employ two full time blokes to deal with BMW "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

My personal opinion:
Why do you need the power of a "sports saloon" in the current traffic conditions?
On the contrary, when I started to drive the d3, i (spontaneously) started to drive in a more gentleman way and with much less stress.
I never drove a beamer (would perform very bad here in winter) but with my peugoeot 406 i often drove like a mad man.

I know this is a gross generalisation, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but just from my personal observation, I've come to the conclusion that the vast majority of BMW drivers I meet on the road tend to drive like inconsiderate w**kers. Now the question that's got me thinking (a bit like the chicken and the egg) is, which comes first? Do inconsiderate w**kers like to choose BMW's or does driving a BMW turn previously normal road users into inconsiderate w**kers?

I tested newish 520d ( 4 pot alloy ) vs. the 530d ( iron lump ) and was rather
impressed with the four. Very little weight in the front. Excellent for twisty roads.
Also somewhat cheaper too !

Over last 4 years I have had two brand new BMW's - one a 320d and the other 520s M sport.
I personally think they fantastically engineered cars with after sales service that can't be matched.
Everyone on the road thinks you are a w***er when you drive one though - thats the image they have (or had).

If you buy new, i wouldn't spend the money to tick the box on the options list for 'indicators', most BMW drivers seem to find them unnecessary I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.
