DELIVERY CHECKLIST
A bit concerned after reading so much about software updates, parking brake malfunctions, etc....
I was thinking that it would be a great service to all of us waiting for our D3s to arrive if the experienced D3 owners threw in some suggestions to start a to-do list for D-day and the first days of caring for the new baby.
Things like "make sure you look for X", first few miles of driving advice, try X to make sure it worsk, paint sealants, spank it and make sure it breathes, "don´t worry about X noise", etc.
Your experience and wisdom would help a bunch of us, new to LRs in the expectant state.JL Martin

Ok, if its an HSE make sure the sat nav voice control talks back as an English Female (if your English that is)
Get the dealer to show you how to set up the memory seats, and the Lazy entry, and Reverse mirror dip position. Ths causes lots of confusion.

Great! Thanks, lets see if we get a solid list to pass it around.
It so happens that we are having our first child a month after the D3 arrives, so the first-time parethood deal is spillign over the arrival of the D3 JL Martin

Its in the SETTINGS menu. It automatically adjusts the seat and mirrors to the individual key. You can have up to 3 keys, so the wife can have her own key and she will never have to worry about setting things up.
This of course depends on a couple of things, firstly I think its an SE/HSE feature if you have electric memory seats, and secondly and most important, WILL you ever let her drive it anyway Its that good

Wife?, Key? - does not compute
Thing for me when I first got mine was checking the oil - dip stick not very easy to read, but keep checking as they (2.7 TDV6) appear to burn a bit when new
Also, let the system check finish before starting engine - few seconds only

My first recommendation is to check the car very carefully on collection. I discovered a paint defect, very obvious but not spotted by LR or LR dealer. In the end they fitted a new door, problem solved. So, look carefully panel by panel, take your time. Secondly, do the same with the interior and also check correct fitment of any dealer-fitted accessories. Do not accept the car if you spot even a minor fault.
When you get the car home, get to know the car, try out and test everything and do this in conjunction with the user manual, starting at page 1. Make notes of anything you don't understand or things that appear to conflict and use this forum for help so that when you refer to your dealer you have some prior knowlege. Finally, drive the car, keep your eye on the message centre, watch for spurious warnings.

Been readign about certain items offered in the catalog that never actually made it to the vehicles. Dealer never mentioned anyhitng about missing features.
Anyone know what they are? I hear tyre pressure monitor is one of them. Would be good to know so when I show up at the dealer to pick mine up I won´t get unnecessarily nasty.JL Martin

Here you are. Below is the list I assembled from various posts during my membership of the forum and after eventually asking everyone as well. Maybe Martin might consider such a list (to be added to later) as a useful resource somewhere easy to spot.
Hope it helps
Have a blast!
Discovery Checklist
Things to check
Tailgate struts
Reversing full lock noise
Lazy entry
Paintwork
Alignment of stick on bits/fitment of dealer fit accessories
Towbar, storage and fitting it
Number plates correct back & front
Correct spec
PTI/ Phone pairing
Tight spare wheel
Bonnet lid catch
Cds going in & out – take 6 with us take one MP3 CD
Air suspension heights
Wheel locking key present
Voice control
Both keys
To Take
Paper driving licence (needed for finance)
New insurance documents
Camera
Things to ask
Ask the dealer and see if they have updated using WDS patch 2 (3 seems to have gone awry).
Park Distance Control fault was intermittent activation... sometimes works straight off... sometimes a delay... sometime not until you stop and wait or re-select reverse.
You should go through the settings menu, and it should not have the pre-heat/cool option. That tells you the instrument pack is up to date.2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony
