Hi their, anyone else had problems with the Park Brake system, mine suddenly started reporting a park brake system fault, which left me stranded in a car park with the park brake locked on. I read the manual which said I could manually release the brake but this didn't work. Switched everything off and restarted a couple of times then problem seemed to clear, only to happen again next day, very very annoying and embarresing. Dealer has picked car up today I have a Zambessi silver TDv6S 7 seater Auto and love it.

Mine doing this at the moment, accompanied by a very loud screech when I put the brake on. It went in the dealers last week for this and some other bits. The other bits are fine, but the park brake has malfunctioned again today.
I have an auto, so will make do with Park on the gearbox until next service, which won't be long.

I've had the same, reason: park brake system 'sucks' too much current, as such goes in an 'overdrive' and screeches, that's what I've been told, they replaced the scary thing

I only occasionally had the fault warning light, when switching off the park brake and driving away too quickly... Anyways, going back to dealer soon for a software upgrade

Finally got vehicle back from stealers, 10 days. Control unit was U/S, theyve replaced it and upgraded the software, no issues so far. One usefull tip I was able to gleem from the technician, If it happens again and Park Brake stays in 'on' mode just behind the park brake lever in the console is a flat plastic plate which is removable, if you remove this their are some power cables to the brake switch but also a metal cable which if pulled very hard will supposedly release the Park Brake.
Had a Volvo 740 diesel estate as replacement thank god I got a Disco 3

Mine is about to go back for the fourth time with the Park Brake Warning light coming on but no apparent fault.
They have changed the brake shoes, the software and have tried a reset but it still comes back within hours of the dealer returning the car.

I put my key back in the ignition yesterday and the yellow park brake warning light came on and the D3 started to roll away.
Tried it again and all ok and has been since.
I had 13 patch 2 applied a couple of weeks ago.
I will see how it goes before going back to dealer. Nov '54' TDV6 SE Manual 25,000 miles - Excellent !! Don't buy an Auto until you have driven a Manual !!!!

My park brake fault was down to a gearbox recalibration, and since this was done, its never come back on since. The give away was: if you watch the numbers for which gear you are in on the dashboard, when you changed gear, there was a slight delay before the next number was displayed. Appartently, one of the ECU's threw a wobbly because it thought it had missed a message, the upshot being the parkbrake fault warning light. Once recal'd, the numbers come up straight away, and the fault light hasn't come back on. Dealer knew straight away about it.Manual car by the way.
