D3 Owner soon! (hopefully...)

Hi all

Going to look at my first D3 tomorrow Mr. Green (a 55 plate HSE) - anything in particular I need to look out for when driving her?

Thanks in advance
Andy Thumbs Up

Ooh HSE - you lucky thing!! Best advice I can give is to test drive several BEFORE you decide either way. Good luck and hope you have lots of fun - keep us posted on progress!! Thumbs Up

Usual things...drives true, brakes work, all buttons work inc memory seats. No lag on pick up, rear uppertailgate fixings not loose, full service history, online reg check prior to even going to see it.

Sit back and wait for permagrin to set in. Thumbs Up

Trade or private purchase??? If latter strongly advise getting a warranty. Just took out warranties on my 2 D3, both paid for many times over with turbo failures. Tesco, LR extended warranty, warranty direct etc., Tesco for me and very happy!

Thanks for all the advice chaps Thumbs Up

It's at an independant dealer, but i'll be getting the tesco finest warranty anyway, so hopefully if anything is wrong with it, that should cover it... Question

Also, when you say no lag, i was expecting a bit of turbo lag, does it not affect disco's?

Lag relating to EGR valves, with low power low down. Very noticable, but I'd expect that they would be fine. A question to ask the dealer if he knows if they have been replaced at some point.

Cheers for that - understand now what you mean Wink

test driving a few may be difficult as 55/06 plate hse's seem to be in very short supply....hopefully all will be well with this one and i'll be permagrinning all the way home Mr. Green

We got our 05 HSE a few weeks ago, very pleased.

The only problems I've noticed to date is a very slight pull to the left, and the right tailgate strut bolt very loose.

All in all a great car and a marked improvement on the XC90!

Andy if private sale or approved check everything and do drive the seller mad off his tits,

discs for grooves even smallest leaks, all the vehicle numbers and check the reg document against the list on dvla
and get under the car to look at it proper way to make sure it was not abused

Did that within 5 mins of spotting it! Worryingly it was almost completely off... Shocked

Start planning mods (for on and off road), remapping, detailing, etc, etc. Mr. Green

Just out of interest, where would you place the priority for mods?

I've just got a 49k 05 HSE; the acceleration lag is on a par with my previous Volvo XC90, so I'm used to anticipating the delay. Where should I start elsewhere, or will a remap be top of the list anyway?
