I wonder if this discount includes upgrades etc.
We purchased one from them last year for use on our Disco 1 - 4 bike carrier - excellent bit of kit two. Had 4 bikes and did 1200 miles around cornwall, lands end without a hitch.
have since replaced D1's with a D3, which as you all know, doesn't have the spare wheel on the back. The carrier was design with a bend to clear the sparewheel.
will give them a shout - do we still mention your name/disc3.co.uk Paul for the discount??
cheers

I did mention both Paul and the site yes Gary, they check your username.
Bought two racks and some accessories for another already in the family, discount on all end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
Found this thread today and have a couple questions for anyone who has purchased a Maxx Raxx system.
Firstly, does anyone tow with one fitted and if so, have you done so with 5 bikes on board?
I understand that to tow successfully, I would need the height extension piece but my second question is, can you still tilt the bikes backward enough to enable access to the boot of the car while at the same time, avoiding fouling, and damaging the caravan A-Frame fairing.
Finally, are Maxx Raxx still offering a discount to us Forum members Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Got mine 2 years ago - and they certainly recognised the site and discounts then.
I have the four bike one - and had it fully loaded 2 adults & 2 kids bikes (with a trike also lashed on top of the other bikes). You need to try putting them on a few times to find the best way of fitting them all on. I know there is someone on the forum who has the 5 bike one - and used it I think.
You will need extension piece to clear the jockey wheel handle - and you'll need to use the support straps which lock inside the top of the tailgate door.
The issue you're going to have is whether you have an alko stabiliser - as the bracket on the swan neck can foul the alko hitch (no probs if you have the multi-height set-up). I think it is fine with a winterhoff set-up, but the best idea is to call them direct and discuss options/issues.
Never tilted the fully loaded bike rack back - just accessed the back from the middle row of seats - I would imagine its gets pretty heavy. You won't be able to do it whilst hitched up to the van though.
We now have 5 bikes - I've opted for putting the 2 adult bikes on the roof - then the 3 other bikes on the maxx-raxx. Suppose I worry about the weight on the tow hitch with the rack, bikes & German van hanging off the back!!
Pics in my gallery of the rack in use (just maxxraxx) - not downloaded the new set-up yet!
hope this helps,

I have a 4-bike "premier" for sale with trailer board hangar; only used once. In good nick, as you would imagine.Andrew
Thanks for the info Tim. Very useful indeed . I have a Winterhoff hitch so no problems there.
Andrew, I'd buy yours but mines the removeable type so it won't fit and like you say, upgrading it would cost more than a new one. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Maxxraxx Discount 20%
Thanks to everyone involved in organising this group discount - just ordered (3/4/09) a 5 bike Maxxraxx for a Swan Neck towbar and received a 20% discount when I mentioned Disco3.
Glad to see they are still honouring the initial deal I did, pretty good I think!
I don't have one anymore as have a Alko hitch but whilst I did have it it did the job well.

just an update here, while I haven't had any issues beyond the initial fitting one (designated fitter didn't know what he was doing, luckily it fell off before i left home), a friend is having a lot of problems with theirs. They tow a lot of trailers and keep bending the Maxx Raxx swan neck fitting, anyone else experiencing this? I personally haven't manged to touch it yet. Towing and back carrying is a big plus for the Maxx Raxx as far as I am concerned
I did suggest they park their trailers in less tight spaces end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......
