Does this corrosion need some action?
Mine is 29/11/04 registered. While I think surface rust on the chassis, particularly around welds etc. is normal, there is one area I was a bit worried about, just to the right of the towbar socket, as on attached photo. Options are a) do nothing, b) go for some localised treatment (what - brush off and Kurust?) c) get the whole car waxoyed by Rustmaster.
option B may not cure it but it will certainly help, after neutralizing the rust, put a lot of zinc rich paint on it, to try to move the corrosion onto the zinc and away from the steel.

Thats one thing I hate about the landys. You think that being British made they would have sealed all vehicles from new properly considering the amount off salt and crap they throw onto the roads.
I tened to brush on old motor oil onto the chassis around Sept/Oct keeps the rusty to a minimum

I would thoughaly clean first and have a good look to see if there has been any cracking.

no expert but I see what is happening in the right pic at work and is generally because the weld was not cleaned properly prior to painting.

Hope it's just surface rust. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

So even if I don't get the whole underside waxoyled, I should clean the offending area up with a wire brush and paint with Kurust? Is there a risk of increasing corrosion in the area bordering the bit you've treated?

No more than it would anyway I would think.
I would check the area and treat anyrust you see whilst you are at it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
