Get the bits of ebay and do it yourself - I'd estimate no more than £200 Thumbs Up

Contact 10forCash, top man. He will purchase whats needed, and come to you to fit. All his OEM goods are from Nick, at Yeovil Landrover, and it keeps it within the forum.

Everybody who knows of Iain, 10forCash, will vouch for him and his prices. Just drop him a pm/email(his preferred way), give him enough notice and he will work his majic at a better price than LR.

Well my roof rails arrive tomorrow. I've got the instructions and it looks simple enough but has anyone done this before and got any tips?

Thanks Shocked

Only thing that needs a bit of care is prising the trims out of the roof to get access to the mounts, I use a large flat blade screwdriver to prise the trims up from above the windscreen, just needs a bit of care not to bend them as they are quite flimsy. Depending on the year of your car the trims may just pop out or may be held in with trim pegs.

If it has no trim pegs you will see the mount points along the roof, however I was a bit baffled as I couldn't see how the new bolts went into the small holes. Turns out that there are plastic caps on the holes painted to blend with the car that need removing first!! Easy to do just stick a small flat screwdriver into the top and twist, the cap will then come out leaving a nice threaded hole for the rail mounts to fasten into.

Cutting the trims is very easy with a junior hacksaw, just measure carefully from front to rear as per the instructions, there is a bit of tolerance here so you don't need a perfect cut.

Good luck, it really is a very simple job Thumbs Up

2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Just reading through this thread as I'm about to buy roof rails.

Do the genuine LR roof bars bolt straight on to the roof rails? If so this seems a better option than buying Thule bars plus the feet or foot pads.

Have I got this right?

Thanks.

If you have the genuine roof rails, they are basically a track system, the LR cross bars slot in to them the same as the thule ones do!

The best bet is to decide what you want to carry on them and decide whether any accessories you might want (kayaks/bikes etc.) will fit on both or only one type of bars Thumbs Up
