CB: Where and What ?
Hi there,
I'm using at the moment a TTY transceiver on occasional basis. I'm installing it between the driver seat and the box. I'm not so pleased with the product (not too strong) and I'm therefore looking for something more solid (Galaxy DX979 for instance that would give me access to long distance communications...) so the question is twofold:
1. Where did you install your CB transceiver (this one would be 7,25" wide and 2"25 inch high, not a small thingie...)
2. ever heard of that make ? I'm looking for a AM/FM/SSB 40Ch (min) tranceiver to which I would probably add a Linear Amplifier of around 200W)
Thanks !
BenoitA second D3 ! This time with all whistles and bells (Auto, 7seats, Diff Lock, RAI, all kinds of protections, winch, Extended range tank, iPod adapter....)
First time twice the same car ! and first time third car of the same brand !
I'm loving it !

MacLeod, does this mean that each time you use it you leave the cubby open or....?
Did you install an external speaker?

Up.
Is it the only CB installed in a D3... come on ! Even if you are no that proud of your mod, there is no reason to share !
I've ordered an BIG 10m "export" radio and I can tell you this will not be easy to fit in the car in a stylish way, so please contribute your experience...A second D3 ! Mine is a portable Midland Allan 42 with a car kit. I use a small square of velcro to attach the head unit to the H trim next to the radio. I have a speaker-mike to make it easy to use. No photos available at the moment.

if you source a ext speaker the same as car mobile phones use it fits down the side of the h trim (behind) pad the speaker with the felt side of velcro so it dont rattle and that does the trick
Great...just seen this post... I've just ordered a CB and external speaker...and the speaker is of a size that I'm assuming will not be able to fit behind any trim...another item for SWMBO to notice and complain about The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Whilever she is focusing her complaining on your new toys, she won't be criticising your driving, although SWMBO's have a nasty ability to multi-task I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Mine is as Ken says, but I took it out of its housing/mount, and whilst doing the H trim I fixed it in the vent. Partially blocks airflow, but not a lot TBH, its where they put it in my truck, so just copied it.
My unit also has a speaker on the CB, so can use with lid open or virtually closed, it does'nt matter
