I've run some big cables to the rear of the Disco to my aux fuse box to run all my extra bits and pieces. But now need to run some more to hardwire in the inverter. Not to keen on using the cig lighter option. I've used the grommet behind the brake fluid reservoir. So where are the other options? I can see a big grommet behind the fuse box but can't move the fuse box out of the way enough to get a cable through.
Any ideas? HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

How big is the inverter?
How big are the cables you've already run to the rear? Bodsys Brake Bible

Because I have a fear of overloading circuits I've run 2 X batt cable to the rear. So I have + and - feed back to the aux batt. That way I know that I will never overload the circuits in the rear. I have a secondary fuse box in the side bin in the rear O/S.
My tame sparky has said I could run separate cables to be safe but I can't find a spare hole for them that I can get at HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

I'm probably not telling you something that you don't already know, but mains power in a vehicle needs to be treated with respect.
There is no way that I would hardwire an inverter into my D3. The Bearded Dragon

Using a traxide split charge system and an aux batt so it'll be on a completely separate system. Plus the inverter would be removed after the Morocco trip HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Hi Mark,
While I applaud your choice of dual battery system , I'm more concerned about you having mains power floating around in a metal box (the D3).
To what purpose will the inverter be used?

Really can't see the problem with the onboard inverter. I have had one in various vehicles for the past 8 or 9 years
and have never had a problem. I have various appliances in the vehicle for my work which require up to 1000 watts. I have an isolation switch so that everything is shut down when not required. Make good quality connections , treat with respect and you won't have any problems. Something that doesn't drink diesel and doesn't cost a bloody fortune everytime it needs serviced / fixed. But hey ....I got a deal from the leasing company on my D3 that you guys can only dream about !

How much power is the inverter going to Drag? & what will it be mainly used for? You may be going overkill on the extra cable routing when the existing battery cables to the rear would be sufficient.
I would guess you're running fridge & some chargers or similar to the rear, perhaps compressor (which would be used infrequently) and some lights? unless you're running a big 1000w inverter or higher....? Bodsys Brake Bible

OK. To clear up or clarify my system. I have a traxide 40 VSR. 2 big cables to the rear to a secondary fuse box. From this box I have run 3 power sockets. 1 will will power the Waeco 50l fridge and the other 2 are spare really. 1 to run the air compressor as and when needed. Also from the fuse box I have feeds to the onboard PC and CB. I have a spare fuse slot on the fuse board.
The inverter will be used to charge the video camera, charge the laptop for downloading all the pics I take. And charge my mob phone. I don't intend running anything bigger than that. No hairdryer or kettle etc.
What is the biggest normal blade fuse that you can get. Is it 30amp? HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

The inverter, according to my tame sparky draws max 30 something amps so a 40 would good. That way I can run the cables for it from the rear fuse box and save routing big long runs of cable.
Wiggs Cheers. Will now trawl the net for some 40amp fuses.
EDIT Well it seems RS has some. Just need to find someone with an RS account now
