LR4 / Discovery 4 Photos - Details
Here are a few photos of the D4 I found fishing around Google. They're photos from different angles and of details you might not have otherwise seen.

Wish they would provide some more shots of the black interior without that fake wood 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

Nice find CY.....looking good, but I'm not too sure about the light coloured (painted?) trim panels in the boot area....
Also why do you assume it's fake wood? The wood trim panels for the MY08 HSE were real wood - a very thin laminar overmoulded with plastic, but real wood none-the-less.
The 'rouched leather' looks poorly fitted in the 6th and 7th row seats

Real or fake, the wood smacks of vulgar American SUVs, Jaguar saloons for the gentry, or the Hyundai

Other than the slide-out cupholders beneath the front air vents, which storage spaces are gone?2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

The space where the TR now resides
And the 12v sockets are on the opposite side of the gear selector from the cup holders. A bit of a pain if you have the 'bottle' inverters, or you sit your mobile in the cup holder while it charges.....Disco 5 HSE Lux

It was nice having those cup holders next to the 12v sockets. Mine have usually got something sitting in them charging. The lost space comes from not having the cup holders sticking out and the increased angle of the 'H' panel (from almost vertical). Also the new cup holders look to be round where as the old ones had a nice grove for handles for non-standard cups.
It'd be nice to know what the thinking was behind swapping the TR with the cup holders. Now they have to offset the position of the TR (which looks a mess) to miss the gear stick, which presumably also means extra differences and parts between LHD & RHD.
On the whole I love the look of the D4, and these little things are not deal breakers by any means, but I'm really interested in design and the thought processes behind it. Presumably, someone thought this way around it looked more 'up-market' but that's poor design if we're losing functionality.
(I'd still buy one though if I had £47 grand burning a hole!)
EDIT: Just realised i can't hide my origin bluei speed camera detector down their either - it's fitted under the ashtray shelf at the moment - where's that going to go?2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

Wonder where they go the idea for those wheels?

Hopefully the price of D3's will fall through the floor now so I can justify one next

Crews, is that not a 12V socket on the passenger side of the gear stick, just in front of the "P" position? I think I can see cubby holes front and rear, which seem big enough to take a Blackberry, iPod, iPhone, etc. I can't see it very well but it also seems like the twin cup holders are connected, which seems like it will permit cup handles to fit facing inward, side-by-side.
I would hazard a guess that the buying public much preferred a sloping console to the D3's vertical console, and that the change was made to broaden the car's appeal. I very much look forward to seeing it in the showroom. I doubt that the design guys will have given up very much functionality.
I reckon that LR will win a few new customers from the likes of BMW. Do you think that we should start posting warnings on BMW X5 websites to say that the round silver button is not an iDrive controller and that Rock mode is not a stereo function, but something that helps when driving over bumpy stuff (not including speed humps, cats, badgers, etc).
Has anyone found the curry hook yet?

Looks like there's going to be a small cubby hole above the new TR location. Looks like it will pull down (look at the silver line - magnetic hold or similar?). Might not be as practical as the old one but at least they're trying to keep the functionaility of the D3 (maybe). Might hold a pack of Polos and phone.

Like the brown color. Don't have to use the mudspray anymore or wash the car after going offroad.
The color of the carpet: looks like white.
