The D4 front wings are 15mm shorter than the old D3 ...so there would be a bit more work required TBH Wink

The pedestrians we're most likely to hit have a big tail, very large thighs and a small brain (no, I'm not referring to female Texans Whistle ). Thank goodness for kangaroos. A couple of years ago, a very well-meaning British-named refinery here tried to prohibit employees from parking cars with roo-bars in the company-owned parking lot for pedestrian safety. I seem to recall this rapidly changed when they found out they might be up on charges if an employees car hit a roo while driving from work and the humans were hurt or killed because they weren't allowed roo-bars.

I once hit a wombat at night and it cleanly removed the engine and left it behind the car. To simulate this yourselves just fill a black leather bag 900mm in diameter with bricks and drive into it at 100km/hr. I can't imaging roo bars being outlawed here (I learned quickly that the LR A-Frame shears like cardboard when hitting any thing substantive). I predict that we'll forever be able to get big, ugly, winch-capable front end bars in Australia.

PS: I look forward to seeing how EU pedestrian protection requirements are applied to snow plows.

Can't fit bits to our cars, for fear of injuring pedestrians??? Stupid or what! Censored An HGV isn't exactly pedestrian-friendly, and neither's the No 9 Bus - can't see anyone being successful in banning them, though ...

When I was kid, I had the 'Green Cross Code' hammered into me - we are trying to legislate for stupidity in the Country (and the EU). Evil or Very Mad

Will the running boards/side steps from the D3 fit the D4? Not that I have any, just wondering if they would have stock.

Incidentally, how much are the boards/steps?

Towbar?

Will a D3 adjustable height towbar fit the D4?

Looks like it should... but nice if someone could confirm.

Thanks

Given that externally the D4 is 99% identical to an MY09 D3 (see DG's gallery) behind the A Pillar I'd hazard a guess that they would fit...

I was talking to a salesman at Ripon Landrover over the weekend, he told me that my Tow Bar, side tubes , ladder, roof bars, mats, sill trims could all be swapped over to a D4, he wasn't sure about the mud flaps or towbar sockets, he was also checking to see if privacy glass is an option on a XS, he was giving a 6% discount on RMP!

check out the RRS bumper cover: http://landrover.tagworldwide.com/RRSport/..._en_GB.php

I think it looks much better than previous version.

I think current a frame looks better than new D4 stub version.

Am I right in thinking that the interior matt's and boot liners will all fit as its a D3 really underneath?

Just wondering if its even worth bothering going to talk to dealer, with strong second hand prices it might be the time to trade in, and no way we are buying a Disco cost car at new VAT rate or after April 2010 with £750 VED!

I know for certain, since I'm still waiting from the 1st Sept when I picked up my D4, that there is an issue with mudflaps on the D4 and they are different to those on the D3 and the D3 ones don't fit. I must say I find this hard to believe but my dealer (who is very good) assured me of such. There was also an issue with teh towbar electrics, but this has recently come in and I'm waiting for the mudflaps prior to havingn the towbar installed etc...

Thanks big-al

I assumed the mud flaps might be different, but in any case my experience is once their on and the screw's start to corrode their best left alone!
