Just been out in the vehicle today and for the first time since purchasing i needed to cool down the cabin. switched of the eco button but no cool air, turned the temperature right down but still no cool air ? I am getting no water discharge from under the car when the vehicle is at a stand still.
is there any way i can check under the bonnet to see if the aircon is actually functioning? I am not familiar with where it is located. any help much appreciated

Eco button turns the climate control off , but just runs the heating on the setting like no air/climate fitted.
The OFF button turns it all off. If you want it COLD, dont touch the ECON button

Suggest he gets it recharged and checked.

Yes it is belt driven, but if that belt snapped you would be without a lot more than aircon. Like power steering and engine cooling.

When was the it last used ? Not being used for 2 months and it will go kaput.
Air con systems need to be used, the gas circulating through the system carries the lubricating oil that keeps the seals moist. When the seals get dry they crack and the refrigerant leaks out.
I understand why people turn it off, but during the winter it must be used at least weekly. best way to use it is on front screen power demist, this brings the air con on to dehumidify the air before heating it and blasting it at the screen.
Regassing a car air con system is not that expensive, circa £50 ish, my tip is find a local automotive air con specialist they will cost half what the dealer will charge.
Also the dealers have an automatic machine that does it all at a hit of a button, the proper way to do it is to charge the system with Nitrogen and a green die, then use a sniffer at each joint to sniff for the nitrogen. As the nitrogen molecules are smaller than the refrigerant, if there is no nitrogen leaking the system will be fine for the refrigerant. The automatic machines dont do this. I have a Nissan Navara as a work car, dealer regassed 3 times before they admitted there was a leak, took it to an independent specialist who found the leak straight away.
Only other thing to note, is check condenser radiator doesnt have a hole, they are susceptible to stone damage. The condensor is the same as the black grill on the back of your fridge, and is fitted in front of the radiator.
For information, the air off temperature on full blast with a few revs should be less that 5degC, but greater than 0degC
Its been a few years since i designed air con systems..... its all in the head somewhere ! Got our Disco... Love it.....

Dealer overgassed mine and it switched itself off. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
