| Turbochipping and Landrover Insurance |

I'm getting quite interested in havng my D3 turbochipped but am concerned about insurance overload. I am with Landrover insurance. Has anyone any experience of their attitude and what they charge if turbo'd? Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather

My concern would be that Landrover would have details that the car had been chipped in case of mechanical problems albeit a different department but do they talk to each other. I might be over cautious but I would keep my insurance away from Landrover if I had the chip done.

I was thinking of getting the chip done and phoned LR insurance. I was quoted a large additional payment to take me up to renewal (end May) and was told that at renewal I would have to go elsewhere as they were no longer insuring chipped cars at all.
As far as I am concerned I dont think I would tell them,as no physical change has come about and it is only a software issue. Very similar in fact to the frequent software upgrades LR dealers do. If your dealer updates the software and included in that update is a change to engine management ( which is included in the most recent update) you dont report it to your insurers do you?

It sounds like I need to move away from LR insurance if I'm going for chipping.
Once I've had the chipping done is that affected by LR/dealer software upgrades etc. In other words, does the effect of the chopping (reprogramming) get wiped out or how is it maintained? Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather
