Heavy snow in Bramhall now! Looking good for Goyt Valley tomorrow, anyone fancy it? I will post on here tomorrow morning if it keeps snowing, I am going.

Only just seen this? Anyone still around who knows EXACTLY where the guys are going - I know where Fernilee is on the old A6 between Whaley & Buxton, but if they're off the main road somewhere it could be a struggle - I might just be able to get there...Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Met up with Gareth, 10ForCash and RLD for half an hour in The Goyt Valley - was met by a convoy of Zambesi D3's on an interesting hill
Group photos...
The D3 was awesome on lanes which people were sledging on!
Plenty of fools about on 2 powered wheels...
Including this guy who couldn;t manage it with 6 pushing...
...sadly I had no rope so could only chuckle as I cruised past him in Snow mode 8)
I'll leave it to the others to tell the story of the 4WD in trouble...Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Great afternoon out. Good to meet you qzd, and good to see tfc and RLD again. I have some good photos, which will be available as soon as I have removed reg no.s
Highlights of the day, the scariest was the runaway Jag, that nearly took my Disco out. He missed and ended up in a ditch, he was very very lucky, so were the kids that were sledging nearby. RLD recovered him easily, and towed him to the top of the hill.
TFC really did want to recover the police Frontera, but they managed to move before he could get the rope on! So he had to settle for a Transit van instead.
Great snow, great scenery, great company. The Discovery 3 is a truly fantastic vehicle. The only vehicles that were moving in the owners intended direction in the Goyt today were Land Rovers. We could have spent all afternoon recovering the hoi poloi in their roller skates, but we left em to it, and drove a fabulous green lane from Derbyhire Bridge to Buxton.

So how were the standard tyres in all this ?
And were you driving in Hi or Low on the roads?

Great day chaps!
Good to meet Steve for the first time - must be some sort of record - a bloke shorter than Gareth
Plod said they'd burnt the clutch out on the Terrano....wonder how
It was especially satisfying cruising past all the non LR products, including some so - called 4WD's, although it did get a bit disorienting seeing them all moving backwards with their wheels turning forwards!

My tyres were fine but I didn't get as deep in as the others (first time and all that) - 10FC had non-standard tyres on his.
As far as hi/lo - I just stuffed it into Snow Mode and away it went - safe as houses...
A point to remember is that Jag stuffed in the ditch was 4WD - in the short time I was there I saw a few people were bottling it, and rightly so, in their ill-equipped motors...Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
