Buying the lock does the trick! The self-explanatory level, just by looking at it, is remarkable
Thanks everyone! _____________

Hello,
I hve just got a tow bar with no key, is there any way to fit it with out the key. If some one could PM me the answer I would be very grateful. Also if this is possible and someone sends me the answer then could they also send the info on how to remove it to then fit the new lock.
I got the hook from a friend who traded his disco into a merc garage, he's lost the key...
Thanks
Tim

If you go to a dealer and buy the lock-set over the parts counter - all will be revealed, Under a £10 and you are sorted . . . . .
I have no idea how soooo many people manage to loose the key when the towbar is not fitted - it's not exactly easy to take it out, unless it's on the car. (I know it can be done) "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Is it possible to buy extra keys for both the roof bars and tow bar if you give the stealer the numbers?
I have turned the car up side down looking for the keys, I bet the previous owner has them.

Hi all, i too have taken delivery of a 2005 HSE with quick release tow bar !! Shame i can't get it off.
It is currently locked in position to the car and the old owner has no key to enable it's removal.
Can someone please advise/PM me, as to how i can remove the bar, without the key...
Once removed, i will then take a trip to the stealers for a new lock set...
Would really appreciate a quick reply.
Thanks guys.

Go to the dealers for the new lock set, and then you won't need the instructions as it will be obvious
sorry, but this is quite sensitive info and is guarded with care on here I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Thankyou SJR, will take a trip to my local dealers on Saturday and get replacements.
Hopefully everything will become apparently clear...

hi guys, newbie here..... I too am in the same boat!! bought a 55 plate tdv6s and there is no key, also the green knob is in the wrong position according to the manual!
I've bought a new lock from my local stealers @£12 + vat, there are no instructions with it. I've taken the old lock off and it appears that its been butchered before. There is a spring on the splined shaft which I assume should go inside the mechanism?? it was actually between the red collar and the green handle.
My problem is I have no idea which position the splined shaft should be in to fit the new lock to??
sorry for my drawn out post but this is seriously doing my head in!!!!
btw the stealers recommended they fit it @£80 +vat!!!!!
If any one has a microfiche or exploded diagram they could send me I would very much appreciate it
