Coil or Air suspension

Guys - I've sold my trusty TD5 and now ready for the TDV6 experience - quick question though - should I go for the Coil or Air suspension?? I've been told the Air suspension can give problems and am better sticking to coil (I'm looking for an 05/55 plate S or SE spec reasonably priced please if anyone has one for sale) More concerned with lowish mileage and full LRSH rather than all the toys etc.....

Look forward to your informative responses!!

Cheers

Welcome, I am not 100% but I didn't think the coil was available in S or SE trim, only basic 5 seater. Personally the air suspension is one of the things which makes the D3 what it is. Touch wood I haven't had any problems and I have heard of very few on here as well. The compressor is probably the only thing which seems to go wrong and that can be caused by mud in the compressor housing.

I've just sold my HSE with 121k on the clock. The air suspension was perfect after the initial software and compressor upgrade that ALL early D3's should have had. Any dealer should be able to check if a car you are looking at has had the enhancement carried out.

Don't mess around trying to find a coil sprung base model.

I thought all that when I swapped my TD5 with coil.

Decided to give the air suspension a try and wouldn't do without it now! Just simple things like easy for off-road ground clearance and dropping it for short-legged passengers.

Only problem I have had with it in three years was a compressor within a week of buying it, and that was done under warranty.

100% air for me!!

I have the coil springs on my Disco 3, i did find it somewhat limiting when serious offroading but at the same time they have not given any problems at all so far. What are the King Springs? Thumbs Up

Don't you need the self leveling air for the Xenons?

All that talk of air giving trouble, is just the old wives tales left over from the first RR with air suspention. They did give trouble.

So the people that dont have D3's and have no experiance with them will just tell you " land rover with air, they give trouble"

But in realaty they dont, Thats my view on it anyway.
