Where the hell is my engine oil going?

I have been away on holiday this week. Checked the oil tTuesday due to whinning noise from front end. I found the oil level low however still in the safe range. After obtaing more oil, I checked it again the following day to find it had used another 1/4 inch of oil!!!!
I have since topped it up and the level has stablised! There is no sign of a leak or no evidence of it burning oil!
Where is it going? Any ideas?

Have you checked your brake fluid level? if it's dark and above the max. mark or there is oil evident if you open the vac pipe snap connector it could be the vac pump has failed and is bleeding oil into the brake servo
