I have a 3/4 length Hannibal rack that is almost silent, well as quite as my roof bars where, if that helps. Carries everything i need with ease.

Ken - I like the OEM too. Yours is one studly FFRR!
Problem #1 is it is not suited to carrying jerrycans because of the very large gaps between the rails (my main reason for the rack is I need 500km range in thick sand)
Problem #2 is local price from stealer - I can buy 3 of any other kind of rack for the price Evil or Very Mad

Ken, can you assist with a couple of questions?

a) dual battery system - where do you put it, and where do you take off power? Is the thick red cable in the RHS of the boot connected direct to the battery?
b) TPMS sensors for spare wheels - are they necessary? is the warning intrusive if they are not fitted? can you fit sensors to the 6-spoke 19" D3 wheels?

regards
Anthony

Dunno really. It was time for a change, plus it looks somehow "lighter" in the natural colour. Was hoping the missus wouldn't spot it Laughing

Sorry Ken, I don't quite get you - I was talking about the FFRR - does yours have a storage area? mine doesn't or at least I haven't found it yet. the underbonnet area is quite full Mr. Green
there is a thick red cable connected to a fuse box in the driver's side rear of the boot, and I wondered if that connects direct to the battery or not - was thinking of taking power off here for another batttery, but can't find anywhere to put it

Baben , I decided not to install a second battery in the D4 , i had a dual battery in the D3 but the space forces you to go for a small battery. This time I bought a NL battery box and had the cable routed to the back , it is stored in the storage area with the towball. I am going to install a cable in my wifes caravelle too so I can use the 2nd battery setup in both vehicles. The box can also be removed from the vehicle and used anywhere you need it be it in the tent for a 12 fan or fridge and when you trade the car it's easy to take out. As a friend of mine put it:The one and only drawback is the space the box takes up but from there it's only advantages.

Boet, if you saw the limited boot space in the FFRR, you would understand why I can't go that route. It is amazing how small it is compared to the D3/D4. 2 sets of scuba gear, and you are left wondering where you can fit the beer Shocked

I am gonna do the same as Ken (hoping he posts the piccies some day Smile )

anyway, this is all Off Topic

Report back on the roofrack - absolutely great, no issues at all, very little noise - in fact the MTR's were the only noise I heard. I had to tighten up the rails etc, which Wayne at FrontRunner supplied (Wayne is KING!) once I got to Guinjata, but that's cos they were newly fitted a couple of days before I left.

So eventually got my Hannibal 1.9m roofrack and eventually could clean up the garage by fitting the rooftent; now she's starting to look the part again! Off to Botswana soon again.
