Dashboard - what is behind this panel

I've got a DVD player that fits nicely into the gap, where others have the higher spec GPS Screen. However it is a bit too long to just rest there, so I was considering removing a little of the dashboard panel (cross-hatched marked rectangle) and sliding the DVD drive into the space.

Can anyone tell me what is immediately behind this area (so I don't get a nasty suprise when I try cutting it.

At a guess, loads of fibre optics and electrickery Shocked if you take the dash surround off, the liner in lieu of the nav. screen should be held in by four (I think) torx fasteners so you should be able to have a good look before you cut it

Excellent suggestion - just need to find the 4 fasteners and give it a look. Cheers.

If you pull hard from the bottom at the side of the panel that houses the heater controls & HIFI it comes away & the screws should be obvious!

I remember seeing the front two screws when I was fitting my satnav, but it looked like this section was acutually part of the top dash moulding. It didnt look like it came out. I know LR wouldn't have two different dash mouldings for with satnav or without, but it did look like it was part of the top roll.
