Hi Ray, having read some of the cautionary tales I think I'll have to bite the bullet and get protected. Could you let me know how to go about getting one.
Frankly anyone who has a spare wheel stolen clearly has:-
No common-sense;
No RLD spare wheel protector;
No cause for complaint

Spare wheel protector

Fitted protector this morning in no time at all ,first rate job.
Thanks again.
After dishing out several years of abuse to it I gave my Spare Wheel protector some TLC last week and got it shot blasted and hot zinc sprayed - not sure uf I'll paint it black now, it'll probably outlast the car

I could do with that as mine is rusting to bits!

Mine wasn't too badly rust, just caked in mud and because the gaps were clogged with mud the inside had a bucket full of sand and a few pine cones in it
Cost me £20 to get it done at the local place.

What kind of place offers such services - body shop or something with a more engineering bent?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
These guys specialise in shotblasting, spray painting and coating providing the services to engineering companys and jo bloggs from the street.
I've seen all manner of stuff in their yard, from vehicle parts, chassis, alloy wheels or big industrial engineering components. They did a cracking job on my LR roof ladder too
