Funny noise from wheels area
I need some help with a funny noise from the front end of the D3!
It's a woca woca type noise that is at its worse when going round roundabouts or highish speed right hand bends, sounds like from the front left wheel area. It can also be heard going round left bends (Mrs DSL refused to try going round the roundabout the wrong way ), just not as loud. It did not do it when tucking the car sharply into a small roundabout (not too sharp as dogs were in the boot). The frequency of the woca wocas was about the same whether going round a small rooundbout as a 50mph bend. I thought I heard this on the motorway at 60mph when going in a straight line, reported this to stealer prior to last service, needless to say nothing found, although I did have MTRs on at the time (today on road tyres).
Any thoughts anyone???

Mine used to sound like a Chinook was permanently hovering above me - changed worn tyres, noise went away - was on Wranglers - switched to Synchrones

Tyres are Contis 4x4 contacts with 6mm tread, on my 2nd set and last set were fine for noise right to me changing them at 3mm. Putting the MTRs back on for Snowdonia but after that can try the original 18" Scorpions back on for a test run.
Hope it is not the Contis as I have a shed full of them!

Haven't happened to notice any muppets hanging around lately have ya?
Sorry DSL I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Temporarily swap your wheels front to back and see if the noise moves. Swap back afterwards though.

SV Mrs DSL thinks the only muppet is me suggesting going round a roundabout the wrong way, we thinks I was joking!!!
Simon, can try that but will have to wait til after Snowdonia as driveway is sheet ice at the moment. Will mark up which wheel is which prior to taking them off and putting on MTRs.

Well keep an ear out when you put the MTR's on... if its that bad you should still be able to filter the sound out of the tyre hum.

Hi DSL, cant quite tell from your posts, but does it do it regardless of which set of tyres you have on. It sounds a little like the noise mine made at the early stages of my wheel bearing starting to fail. but i would have thought the dealer would have spotted that
have you tried jacking up the wheel and seeing if it makes the noise whilst turning.
Wheel bearing problem would normaly (In my experience) make a noise in a straight line and go quieter when turning so that may not be the problem.Duncan

I can't hear it with the MTRs on, will make sure it has the Conti's or Scorps on after Snowdonia. Stealer test drove it but didn't pick up the noise but it was a lot quieter then. I've got about 2k miles to do over next couple of weeks so will see how it develops. Mrs DSL was randomly sugesting things like engine or radio, I quessed at CV thingie or bearings, but I thought they went bust!

wocca wocca noice at front
Have had this on rear wheels and proved to be wheel bearing. Jack wheel up and rock wheel whilst holding it and 12 and 6 o clock. Any movement at all would show wear in wheel bearing.

not sure if mine is the same noise, but mine redminds me of a tin sheet barely beeing rubbed on concrete for a seccond and increases with speed, dealer says its the dust shield but i see no marks on the rotor that would suggest so.
intrested to see what the mystery is

I'd go with Dunc on this one.....up to a point
When one of my front ones was on it's way out, the noise was more apparent when turning....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
