Guys,
i am getting a grinding, bumping. dragging feel when i turn on full lock either going forward or reverse. I thought that the diff locks may not be enguaging or something, so i put it into rock climb mode and it felt like the front wheels were going to fall off!. Racq guys said sounds like cv joints. Anyone had theirs replaced yet? I have done 102,000kms. Disco 4 Sept 09

I hope not, the diff was replaced under warrantee at 60,000ks, and the D3 is not covered by warrantee anymore. this sounds like it could be expensive. Disco 4 Sept 09

Sometimes i wonder why i drive a disco |
|
More of the discovery saga. It arrived at the dealers on the back of a truck- sorry cant look at it until thursday( four days away) rung on thursday - sorry THE mechanic is working on another car. Im not sure why i bought the Disco. Everybody seems to have replaced a diff or two, a steering wheel or two, brake discs at regular intervals, pad sensors, turbos, I know it is a great four wheel drive but i am begining to wonder if all of the greatness is outweighed by the dramas of owning one.

At last someone who understands! I think as a group , Landrover drivers are the most loyal of all brands as we will stick up for the brand regardless of how many times we frequent the service dept, or how much we pay for parts or how many of our freinds laugh when say we drive a landrover. They are a great vehicle to drive and awesome 4x4s , but reliability has to be factored into a purchase and i am thinking long and hard before we buy another. Disco 4 Sept 09

It is the cost and frequency of the potential repairs that
is of concern with the D3. Pete

Just clocked over 53000kms and in one week I've had the dreaded "handbrake failure" warning light PLUS the "-" on the cruise buttons now turns off the cruise (until you turn engine off when it resets)......oh dear. I really hope this isnt the start of anything............. Some pommy mob were working on HD CVs. If you are keeping it and abusing it, it may not be a bad idea. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Dealer should fix the rotary coupler out of warranty as it is asafety issue; affects the air bag. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Just had word that it is not CVs , not front diff, but maybe centre diff locking up or transfer case. Will keep you posted. Thankfully dealer is understanding and might be able to do something under warantee as the problem was noted earlier.(though i dont recall mentioning anything ) Disco 4 Sept 09

Still without the discovery as the mechanics cant seem to find the problem. they can duplicate the noise and crunching vibration but dont know were it is coming from. i suppose its not costing me fuel at the moment or adding any more km's. But i am starting to get p#$@&+ off.
Has anyone had any success writing to landrover to get resolution for these types of long running dramas? Disco 4 Sept 09
