End of warranty pending... |
|
Guys - I have my warranty coming up - I'll get an end-of-warranty inspection done, but ideas on what sort of things I should look out for?
- the cruise control has started playing up, just occasionaly
- the clock still doesn't keep time
- battery has just been replaced, so that's good!
What's going to go in year 4 of the car's life?
cheers and thanks,

Hi Simon,
I've been out of warranty now for 10 months and I had the Cruise Control stop working only once in recent times. I have had a problem with it before (under warranty) where the buttons were replaced and that fixed the intermittent fault.
I'd say you get the seals looked at on the diffs which seem to be a potential for big repair bills.

I would get the steering components checked...as I just had my steering rack and lower steering column shaft replaced - vague steering, squirmed a bit under brakes. They only noticed the steering rack issue (oil leakage from the rack) when they went to replace the steering column shaft (known issue)...makes you wonder. Still not 100% though...although much better, I should have insisted on them replacing the steering rack bushes as well.
My steering wheel was wearing and that was replaced under warranty...
If you have been free of any issues with your EPB I would recommend that when you drop it in for the inspection state that when you recently applied the EPB there was a loud noise from the back gets them to give it a once over.

what checks should i get done before waranty expires |
|
My waranty expires mid march. The stealer that i bought the disco from has said that the will charge me an hours labour (€ 98+vat ) to do a check on the disco to see if they see anything that might need to be sorted out prior to vehicle coming of waranty.
Is there a standard checklist that I can get them to go through for me.
Thanks Terry.

Try a different stealer?
Hunters did not mention charges to me when they booked me in, and they also said 30mins.
Be interesting to see what happens on 24th Feb......... I'm on a whisky diet. I've lost three days already.

For UK bods, one of the best tips is to have your D3 MOT'd a couple of weeks before the warranty expires.
Any major roadworthy faults will show up then and be repairable under warranty [providing it's not the usual wear & tear items]. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
